who do you think owns most of the businesses and condos in there? it's not a bunch of docile people who don't care if their money is fucked with. it's the other group, the one that will do anything and everything and go completely rabid over their money getting fucked with. The reason he couldn't find a lender for bond is that all his properties are leveraged to the hilt and there is very little value there. He not only doesn't have cash, all his properties are worth much less than he valued them (as colateral) which was part of the whole fraud case...

You can't sell assets involved in court cases. This is pretty obvious and a guaranteed way to end up in prison.
