I went to a resteraunt sunday. The bill showed up on online banking as it should. By wednesday my main account was getting close but I didn't want to transfer from my savings if I didn't have to. Payday is thursday and I was cutting it close. Wednesday night the Charge that had been 8 something suddenly became 11 something. I Transfered 30.00. Thursday I Deposited my paycheck. Thursday night they gave me a 32 dollar overdraft. dated it back to wednesday so now two transactions wed. night after I transfered 30 ( I was over .61) were overdrawn. today the lady at the bank was nice enough to reverse the two that domino'd. what about the first one? The bank lady said resteraunts, Pizza parlors, Etc. can tack on tips that don't show up originally online, but we're responsible!!! The bank stole 32.00 from me and say's it's alright because resteraunts can do that and I'm supposed to know that!!!!

when your server runs your card, he only inputs the amount of the check, which is what is approved at that point. After you sign the ticket and include a tip, the server then goes and adjusts the original check amount to include any tips. If you did not include a tip, there would be no reason for them to readjust your purchase. Did you save your receipt?

Unfortunately, there are some servers that if you pay by credit card and do not leave a tip, they will add a tip themselves. So it is never a smart idea to stiff a server if paying by credit card, even tho it is illegal for the server to add tips, and if he doesn't get caught, he's gonna keep on doing it.

Thats YOUR BANKs fualt. if you go out to eat the bank software automatically assumes that youre going to tip and makes sure there is 15 to 20% MORE than the origional total EVERY TIME. I manage a pizza place and people call me all the time raising hell because they checked thier statement on line and it said..... but the charge is 99.9% of the time "pending" and when it clears it clears for the real amount...you cheap skate. its good and bad, if it didnt run the way it does, youd get charged for the total and the tip. the merchant (me) would face higher processing costs that are based, more or less, on volume. this would eventually lead to higher costs for you. and say you did want to write in a tip but had already overdrawn when you paid the bill....youd get charged double the over draft fee for what is a single transaction and thats really not fair. my advice, eat sandwiches when your broke, and carry some cash all the time. hell gas is .03 a gallon cheaper here when you pay with cash. people get so suprised when theyre broke and thier bank takes money they dont have....how do you think they make thier money??? 6 billion a year in overdrafts alone....im in the wrong business

This is real simple. Just submit the approved charges. Anything else is theft.

I work full time and have conditioned my family to eat out several times a week and daily lunches.

I stopped this about a month ago because

1. I want flouride out of my diet. It is used to treat hyperthyroid and the amount you get in drinking water is the same as the dosage you get for treating the thyroid.

My girls have had a weight problem for years and the only thing medical practioners offered is "They eat to much"

To make a long story short, we have found the issues and restraunt foods are a major part of the problem. They've lost 18 lbs in 3 weeks and the largest item that changed were restraunts. GET OFF THE FLOURIDE IF YOU HAVE A WEIGHT PROBLEM. You get flouride with anything made with water from a place that uses public water.
It is time to awaken to your real purpose. It is all up to you.

Fuckin' A! This happened to me recently for the FIRST time. I went back to the restaurant and questioned them. I signed the slip for NO tip (put in on the table) and carried the balance to the line at the bottom and they still charged me 20%. It then readjusted 2 days later on my account, but I never authorized any amount over what I signed for.

Fuck the banks and restaurants! Why do "We the People" keep letting businesses and banks rule us? They are there to serve us, not the other way around. Man this world is getting more and more screwed up by the hour.

Sorry for the rant, but years ago it used to be, "The customer is always right." What happened?

I caught a bitch doing that once. I went back with the receipt and bank statement print out during dinner hour and raised holy hell with the manager.

The waitress was fired on the spot.

Thanks. Informative. We don't have this system in Switzerland. I am going to the US this fall and I make sure I pay cash on restaurants.

What happened to America that I love? Gone. :-(

I still remember the honesty of some people 15 years ago when I left my plane tickets inside the envelope with 730 usd in it in the plane on the way to Florida.(American Airlines). It was just plain stupidity as I had so much reviewing stuffs of documents and reading while flying.

I called the Airlines when I was in the hotel and inquired about it. Told them my seat number. They told me they found it and sent it to my hotel. Received it the following day. I was so proud of your country and the people. Called them back and insisted on getting the name of the person who found it and his address. Sent him 50% of the 730 USD as it is customary here in Switzerland to pay the finder.

Banks are cheaters. Shame on them all.

They delay to process your deposits, (ATM deposits 10 yards from the bank: 2-3 working days) but put the charges on immediately, just to make you overdraft. For some people they offer overdraft protection, but they "forget" to tell you that it does not apply for some kind of charges. - in fact - it does not apply to most of them.

Cops won't care about this. It happened to me at a Red Lobster Restaurant. They took $50 as a tip, and I had already tipped them $5 (I was alone and the meal was less than $30). I went to the police and they told me they didn't have time for this sort of crime, that the amounts stolen didn't warrant their efforts. They also told me not to go back to the restaurant.

I called the manager and he laughed. So I called and emailed their HQ and they said their employees wouldn't behave in such a way. So I had to suck it up.

Thats because they are not banks, they just reloan 90% of whatever you deposit.

Deposit = Deposed of funds

if you wanted to store your moeny there you'd goto a repository .

You could have just reversed the charge on your credit card. Then Red Lobster would have been charged a fee as well as not getting your money.
