isn't it fascinating how it all plays out and how it is all set up and timed, how those rumours we all read here and there now slowly but surely come true ?
Here is what I think:
We will see the 3rd world war break out this week, any day now - Israel will attack Iran, Iran will strike back and thus Israel needs major help by its big brother, the US.
USA will send in troops and will instantly declare martial law due to the importance of the events to take place, now Russia has to come in and help Iran and voila you have your nuclear empowered total war right before your very eyes in no time.
civil unrest, food shortages and the war in ME will lead within the first day of the war to total financial meltdown and within one day reach a global crisis never seen before...
No Obama will make the president, because in such a state there is no votes, Bush stays until war is over - it's that simple.
Expect digital money only and access to food and healthcare only with RFID chips in your "hand or forehead"..
the rest is up to your imagination or to the bible, whichever you prefer to believe in.
that looming feeling I have for months and weeks and now I finally feel better, cause it will soon be over and an eye-opener to many. |

6 years ago, I came to live in USA and I saw this country walking the path of a 3rd world country. My american husband told me that I was wrong, that I didn't understand USA's economy, and that this was "just a cycle".
He was right about one thing: I do not understand 'economy' in terms of theory. I am not an economist or a financial expert, but I lived in a third world country and I experienced the path. I could see and the writing on the wall.
Now, here we are, and I was right. USA walked the path and it is now in the lobby of third world economy and third world country. My fear now, is that american citizens will have it much, much harder to adapt to this 'third world economy', because they were used to have everything and they were told that that they deserved the best of the best, just for being an american citizen. The new american generation has very little tolerance for frustration, they became pain-phobic, sacrifice-phobic...they became the micro-wave, disposable, culture.
I don't see american citizens in general, mentally, emotionally and physically, prepared to face the realities of a 'third world economy'.
Many americans would immediately go into crisis if they have to live without airconditioning/heating in their homes (something that most third world countries do, regardless of the horrible weather).
Many americans would immediately get into a depression if they have to pay CASH because credit interest is just unthinkable (like most third world countries).
Many americans never developed the two tools for growing: Frustration/support. In order to grow up, you have to frustrate some things (limits) and support others (growing). The indulgent "get it now, pay it later" system, didn't allow american people, to develope the eagerness, consistency and effort to achive anything. That is how desire is built and when desire is not there, apathy takes its place. You have it, but the lack of effort to get it, changes pride and satisfaction into "instant gratification' which lasts just 'an instant'.
That is my concern. American people are NOT prepared to face a third world economy and the social problems may get even bigger than the financial ones.

...very insightful...we do indeed see comfort and ease as an entitlement. Though I'm sure this is a natural state for all creatures to strive toward and once achieved, tenaciously guard. To have everything taken away over the course of a handful of years...the social problems would be enormous.
Perspective is everything: imagine a society where the majority doesn't have much because they lost a lot versus a society that doesn't have much but more than the generation before. It's the difference between crushing depression/anger and hope. Let's hope that the human spirit is resilient enough to weather the change.
Many of us here might be looking for doom with fascination and even a bit of glee, but in the end more of us better be filled with a desire to rebuild a better society and to problem solve or doom will settle in and suck the joy out of life for good. |

buying gold is for suckers. All these asshats telling people to buy gold are sitting on gold stocks, trying to get more people buying gold so it'll go up. Like when gold was at a 1000 bux an ounce not long ago, and SOME people on here were saying "oh, it's a GREAT DEAL at 1000 an ounce". Now why would they say that? Oh yeah, they have gold stocks.
