Is there PURPOSE and /or MEANING to Life???

Ignorance is bliss? I believe our true selves experience reality on many, many different levels through out our journey. One needs to look no further than to themself as to their purpose. Just live.

I love these kinds of questions. These questions change everything.

Ok this is what i say on this. A higher being (call it God if you wish) is testing us. This whole existence is to see how far we can grow beyond the flesh. To see how far we can grow in spirit-soul.

The meaning is just that. God ...the highest order of things created us to use as a test for an even higher purpose that only God knows.

Life is a test. This is the ultimate testing ground of all existence here on Earth.

These questions that you ask are part of the growing process of evolving and growing out of the flesh.

I believe God wants spiritual and only spiritual giants to enter the Kingdom. Who has endeavored to ask the hardest questions and actually believe they could find answers to them ? Who has had that kind of courage ? And who has endeavored to take on the greatest challenge of all ....to dream the impossible dream. The hardest most difficult one of all. To summon the Kingdom to Earth by........CREATING OR ATTEMPTING TO CREATE PEACE ON EARTH. Who has given it the most effort in every conceivable way ? This is the test.

Maybe. I have had enough testing in my time though, and have decided not to play. Bruce Cockburn has a song called "Pacing the Cage".. very much where I am. There is a line in it that says "I've proven who I am so many times... the magnetic strip's worn thin.." it is worth at least a few listens. One of my favourites.

I understand what you are saying i have been there to ...not that long ago really. And this is the conclusion i have come to......the soul-spirit has an infinite amount of room to grow. It is only the brain...the physical part of us that thinks and hurts and feels worn out. But we still live and once you get passed the fatigue you realize that what pulled you through was all intangible. It was just will to live. And that in itself is a clue to this existence. Will to live. WILL. Part of the spirit-soul. Your spirit-soul can never wear thin. It can slow down in progress because of the physical brain but it can never stop growing if you believe. This world can only hurt the brain but never the soul. ONLY God can do something about the soul of us.

Yes, I know my spirit cannot be worn thin. But in this physical reality, it can sure make you feel like it sometimes. Music and nature are my solace. But have a listen to the song. Let me know if you do.

To experience individual expression with free-will. To experience the set limits of the human existence. For the spirit to be exposed to situations that cause the individual spirit to mature. To physically accomplish the pieces of knowledge provided by earth your future self has already attained because of this experience; these moments have to exist for your knowledge to exist. To determine the next stage of life based on the decisions you've made in this life; whatever is best for the benefit of your spirit in its role for the universe will be.

the problem with you people is that you keep looking for meaning outside of you.

YOU ARE THE MEANING. YOU GIVE MEANING TO LIFE.

the purpose of life, near as i can tell, is to experience. simple as that. then again, i could be wrong and the sole purpose of life could be to fuck owls in their ears. i try not to believe in anything.

Great song ! I know how it feels to pace that cage and i know how it feels to be so depressed death seems like it would come like a gift. But the soul-spirit picks up if you can weather the storm of despair. And when you do survive you become stronger. Only the forces of evil want a person to believe that they (LOL) can wear your soul thin. That is ONLY for God. The soul is His to do with as is fit .....ultimately.

I truly believe that it is the intangibles that keep us alive. Not the physical heart or the brain or the liver or kidneys or spleen or anything else that can be touched physically.

How far can we grow with this knowledge ? I believe there is no limit.

To give purpose is to have meaning. Experience all that there is to offer here on this plane. Learn as much as you can as preparation for the next incarnation.

Be the greatest at everything you do, not to be better than your brothern but be your best. Your path here is much different than that of others but your purpose is to give meaning to your life and everyone you come in contact in with.

Thankyou for posting that. I am glad you liked it. All I know is that I am not wishing for death, that isn't it. I am just not afraid of it or adverse to it.

The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything is 42

42 was a very very bad age for me.

I am not afraid of death either. But i have discovered that is part of growing to be fearless of death but also to use life wisely. It is a balance.

Im curious now. How old are you if you dont mind my asking. I just turned 41 but i can say i have had no years that were all that great. They were all filled with pain and suffering. All of them. But i had some good times as well. SOME.

Yes. And the balance is shifting to our side now.. alot of things are falling apart for normally apathetic ppl.. and they have no idea what to do.. you can tell by the threads and the news.. well it's happening, and if you have been on the side of the greater good, there isn't any fear. But it has taken a long time..because it takes that long for such a huge thing to change over. Like a ship turning in the ocean.. it takes a long time.

You chose to come here to learn the lesson your infinite soul needs to learn. This is a very hard time to get to the truth but it is still possible. This life should be approached as a dream that is meaningless except for the advancement of the soul. Purge yourself of all religous belief they are all lies meant to decieve. Purge your mind of all negativity towards yourself and other people. Calm your spirit and lose all your fear worry and stress. Then you can start to create your own reality. This is the only way to happiness and joy. It all really must come from within. I'm still fairly early in this path but am already exponentially a happier than I was under the lies of religion and the media.

Excellent post. Religion is a real mind killer. Nothing fails like religion. Dump that first. We must create our own happiness. Communication with our own subconscious mind is the key.

The purpose of life is quite clear-cut and was reiterated over and over through the historical personalities of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad etc. and that purpose is to surrender one's self unto the Lord or Who is One and has no partners, and to worship Him only and to work deeds of righteousness. It's as simple as that, there's no reason to have some farfetched debate about this or to look for the many ambiguous answers that are out there.

Woship God only and enjoin good works, case closed.

In asking the question, "Does life have meaning/purpose?" one presupposes that an answer may exist--the first step. Usually then, most people come to understand that life and death are two sides of the same coin and that to question the meaning/purpose of life is also to question the meaning/purpose of death--the second step.

Not so, my overly certain friend. What about those who lived before such men or who have yet to hear of their message? Does God reveal meaning outside of these people? Can God speak to us directly or through nature? Perhaps these are questions worth asking?
