CBS
2008-07-09

(July 7) - Jenny was a healthy 13-year-old living in Northern California -- until 15 months ago when, her parents say, she received the third and final shot of the vaccine designed to protect against human papillomavirus (HPV).

HPV causes a large percentage of cases of cervical cancer.

Soon after getting that third injection, her parents say, Jenny began experiencing the first signs of a degenerative muscle disease. They say their daughter is now almost completely paralyzed.

Did Gardasil cause Jenny's condition?

Her family told CBS News it believes "there may be a link. But, there is no medical consensus on whether this hypothesis is stronger than other possible explanations."

Merck, Gardasil's maker, disputes that, saying in a statement, "Based on the facts that we've received, the information does not suggest that this event was causally associated with vaccination."

Jenny's father hopes a blog he started will prompt other teens with similar post-vaccination problems to come forward.

U.S. News & World report says there have been other possible adverse effects associated with Gardisil, though none has been confirmed.

The New York Post also says Gardasil may be causing some medical problems.

Cervical cancer is the second most deadly women's cancer.

Since the Food and Drug Administration approved Gardasil in 2006, some 8 million girls have received at least one of the three shots, with 13 million injections administered in all, the FDA says.

On The Early Show Monday, Dr. Holly Phillips of CBS station WCBS-TV in New York told substitute anchor Tracy Smith, "At this point we shouldn't be more worried than we've ever been. I think the biggest concern is -- parents want to know that, when they give the shots to their children, they're protecting them, not putting them in harm's way.

"Even though a case like Jenny's is incredibly tragic, we also have to be fair and make it very clear that it has not been linked with Gardasil. We understand the family's hypothesis, but still, the FDA, CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) have not linked her case with Gardasil."

Putting things in perspective, Phillips said, "It has been tested on thousands and thousands of women before it ever hit the market. And, already, 8 million women have gotten the shot. So, it's really a relatively small number of complaints we're looking at, but they should be taken seriously. Yet, it's not time for parents to pull the plug and say, 'This is too risky for my child.' "

Phillips said other reports of possible problems stemming from Gardisil have been received on the CDC and FDA's VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System), on which anyone (substantiated or not) can report side affects they feel they are having to a drug or shot.

"Anyone with any concerns whatsoever after they've had the vaccine," can report those concerns via VAERS, Phillips sais, "and they could have had the vaccine a year ago or a week ago. It really doesn't matter. Anyone with any concerns can report them to this system. ... That doesn't mean they're necessarily linked with the vaccine. It just means you have a concern and you would like it looked at thoroughly."

The feds, says Phillips, take VAERS "very seriously. Every week, they actually sit down and look at these complaints. And what they're looking is not just an individual case, but they're really looking for multiple links where several women had the same effect."

You really wanna know what the HPV vaccine has done to these young gals?

Start here: FOIA released medical reports of effects:

Then go here about the deaths:

-------------------------------------

I personally know what these untested, toxic drug concoctions can and WILL do to a person. I am a DES daughter! My mother was given DES (diethylstibestrol) while I was in her womb.

Effects that DES causes, and which I have or am experiencing:

*4 confirmed (by physician or gynecologist) and 1 unconfirmed miscarriages---1 of which was a tubal that occurred between the births of my 2 youngest children.

*A tilted and mis-shaped uterus. Also, my ovaries do not naturally supply a fetus through the "yolk" during the first trimester as their isnt enough blood flow and nutrients due to these abnormalities.

*Cysts on outside of ovaries. And I finally found a place where I can get a pap smear screen free of charge since I am a DES daughter and have no insurance, as I have not had one in over 9 years, and for the last 4-5 years, things just aint right if ya know what I mean. I have 99% of the symptoms for Clear Cell Adenocarcinoma (CCA) of the Vagina and Cervix. If tests come back positive, there is no option for treatment, as I have no insurance. Even if there was an option, it is probably far too advanced to do anything about it. But the appointment is for the 24th of July.

*I have such cervical and vaginal abnormalities that it is a rare occassion for my husband and I to have any intimacy in "that way". It is extremely painful and since I can no longer have children, what's the use? I feel bad for my husband at times, so that is why I endure the excruciating pain once in awhile.

*I do have 3 beautiful children, which are complete and total miracles! I was only able to produce ovum in my right tube, so it was every other month that I was ovulating, rather than monthly as a normal woman does.

*I believe I am beginning to enter menopause at age 39, which started probably just over 1 year ago. I have my curse 2xs per month, 8 days each. This is causing my anemia to worsen.

*I also have auto-immune disorders, of which, the most debilitating is the Rheumatoid Arthritis, and how my immune system is attacking my body, especially my fingers, wrists, feet and toes. I can barely walk (esp after working) and I cannot lift anything heavier than 5 lbs with my right hand, or anything heavier than 8-10 lbs with my left. Couple that with tourette tics and you have a dangerous concoction when I am holding anything that can do any harm, lol.

*I have a mild form of tourettes, which whether or not this aided in it's development, I cannot attest to, but do know there was no tourettes in either of my parents' family history. My son is exhibiting this disease also, as well as generation 3 effects. I'm not sure if my daughters have any effects yet, but my eldest contracted HPV, and now that I know the effects of the HPV innoculation, I will encourage her to contact other DES daughters to see if there is any correlative connections to her contracting and my possibility of having Clear Cell Adenocarcinoma. (Perhaps all the females showing up with this HPV crap and the cancers arising from it were due to DES?? It just seems so "out there" that this HPV showed up out of nowhere, without something setting it off...and even girls that have had NO sexual interaction with another are contracting it!!! And why is it not affecting men/boys??? Think people! DES was prescribed for pregnant women, and on the market in the US for such from 1940-1971!)

*There are many other things, too gross to go into. But trust me, I know what these sorceries are capable of doing to the human body, AND the human psyche!

For info on DES for anyone interested:

And I doubt I am able to even get an attorney to review and take my case, as my mothers and my medical records burned up in a mysterious fire where records were stored. Also, most states have a statute of limitations, which at age 39, has passed long ago.
