Cern lab goes 'colder than space'
A vast physics experiment built in a tunnel below the French-Swiss border is fast becoming one of the coolest places in the Universe.

The Large Hadron Collider is entering the final stages of being lowered to a temperature of 1.9 Kelvin (-271C; -456F) - colder than deep space.

The LHC has thousands of magnets which will be maintained in this frigid condition using liquid helium.

The magnets are arranged in a ring that runs for 27km through the giant tunnel.

Once the LHC is operational, two particle beams - usually consisting of protons accelerated to high energies - will be fired down pipes running through the magnets.

These beams will then travel in opposite directions around the main ring at close to the speed of light.

At allotted points along the tunnel, the beams will cross paths, smashing into one another with cataclysmic force. Scientists hope to see new particles in the debris of these collisions, revealing fundamental new insights into the nature of the cosmos and how it came into being.

The most powerful physics experiment ever built, the LHC will re-create the conditions just after the Big Bang.

Currently, six out of the LHC's eight sectors are between 4.5 and 1.9 Kelvin, though all sectors of the machine have been down to 1.9 Kelvin at some stage over the last few months.

By comparison, the temperature in remote regions of outer space is about 2.7 Kelvin (-270C; -454F).

Well if they are cooling the rest of it down that would mean it might just be on schedule for the Olympics fire up... no?

anytime you are experimenting with unknowns... there are going to be some curve balls... not worried about black holes, but lost of other shit could happen...

You guys have to understand the concept of SuperSymetry to even understand WHAT they are trying to do.

If they find the Higgs Boson, They can attach just gravity particles to it making SUPERGRAVITY , or SUPERMAGNETISM.

How about manufacturing Super anti gravity?

Completely possible once you separate the Higgs Boson and attach just the force particles to the Higgs.

They have to verify it is there first.

Re: Cern lab goes 'colder than space'
however you look at it, it seems it may create a magnetic lenseflare or something for the olympics, they are trying to open an infinity time loop I think; like at the end of the newest Star Trek Series ... (Enterprise)

Where there was an alternative wwII scenario, and the germans were in league with the Rigelians; let's play 'flash the ets'.

Et's will definitely know we are awake, perhaps even 'time wave lords'.

I don't think you can create an infinity time loop within lower dimensional (epsilon) space, I think it potentially could offset the rotational orbit of the planet & magnetic north / south ?

I think the collider might offset tidal & centrifigual force; if turned up high enough - if there are other forces operating on our solar system - perhaps beyond our understanding, related to galactic crossing / zenith horizon.

I had some really weird strange visions / sense about it.

sorta heading into no mans land, could just be nostalagic hypnogogic retro-future memory or delusional sickness.

the thing is, the time loop already been created/completed; so hopefully - the whole thing is being monitored by not only our own scientists ..

but if there are ET's, them as well. hopefully worst fears & worst case scenarios won't become manifest.

---------
Hadron = Hades perhaps (heed, run ....) ?

Higgs Boson, supersymmetry or not; I dunno - perhaps this will part of a forced lift to the quarantine...

hold on tight, and be prepared for the twilight zone I guess.

------------------
Trying to find alternatives to worst case scenarios since 1995 (we do not discriminate against the mentally ill or taking a look at prophecies from varying traditions or apocryphal teachings)

Epoch / Apocryphal - Epoch Refill - Epoch Cry Foul ??

Right, but you know what ? They'll probably lie about the

I'm gonna laugh so hard when they turn it on and diddly-squat happens, or it just catches fire or blows up. The press release will be awesome: "*Cough* Umm... ladies and gentlemen... ummm *cough* I'm pleased to announce that we've just wasted hunderds of billions of dollars and absolutely nothing happened..."

You mean they haven't even turned the damned thing on yet?

Meh. I agree with the other posters who basically said that it will probably amount to a whole lot of nothing yet spent countless millions on this project to keep important people and corporations employed.

But I'm no physicist so I could be wrong.

Re: Cern lab goes 'colder than space'
Its not so much when it will fire , it is when they complete all the prediagnostics and bring the entire loop down to temperature.

The best guestimate so far is the week of august 10th.

When the west starts to lose the upcoming WWIII they're gonna send it into overdrive and blowup the whole damn planet (maybe even solar system) causing a massive rip in time/space and creating an infinite loop, it will feel like we're going back in time!

I know cos i've seen it in a vision back 1998.

Re: Cern lab goes 'colder than space'
" The machine's cool-down should take another two weeks to complete, provided no serious problems are found. Electrical testing of the magnets may take another couple of weeks.

Before the LHC is "switched on" for the first time, the proton beams have to be boosted to high energies in a chain of particle accelerators called the injectors.

Once the machine is cold, operators will inject beams into the main ring, threading them through each independent sector of the LHC until they close the circle. "

Another month or so to go.. woot.

Tell ya one thing.. if there was such a thing as aliens flying around earth, they likely would be getting pretty anxious about what's goin on down here heh. Or at least watching closely to make sure we dont rip the universe in two or some such glp like nonsense

Good lord. I am sure the Euro powers are drooling that they will be able to weaponize whatever is generated in CERN, so they can blow up the evil Yankees. How dare us peasants and mongrels make a pretense of a freer alternative to their ancient civilization...

Then again, it's pretty awesome to be living in a time when something like this is going on.
