Dont mess with my SUGAR
Sugar in the foods we eat may soon come from genetically engineered (GE) sugar beets. Farmers in the western U.S. are about to plant their first season of Monsanto's Roundup Ready®, herbicide-tolerant, GE sugar beets. Over half the sugar in processed foods comes from sugar beets and the rest comes from sugar cane. Sugars are often combined in products and not listed separately on labels. Once food producers start using GE beet sugar in products, the only way to avoid eating GE beet sugar will be to buy organic foods and foods containing 100% cane sugar or evaporated cane juice.

I freakin HATE monsanto and all it stands for.

That would be justice but there isnt any to be found these days.And I am afraid the damage done already is not reversable. Dont mess with mother nature, but when you think you are God like Monsanto and the rest of these parasites and let the Jennie out of the bottle so to speak it puts us to the point of no return.

It's time to take control of what you eat, shun ALL processed foods, find a good farm store and diary to purchase your foods. Grow a garden with heirloom seeds, take control of your health, it's not impossible, but it is work. Guess it depends on what you want.

Welcome to now. GM crops are easier to grow and produce bigger harvests on less land. GM crops=bigger profits. People will always go for the biggest payoff. You've already eaten GM food, guaranteed. It's one of those things we can rant about, but have to pay extra to do anything about it. I personally don't see what's wrong with GM crops, except that I feel that copyrighting them is immoral.

How about starvation, Guy? Will any of their frankinseeds grow in generations to come after they've polluted every field out there? Maybe this is why the honey bee has disappeared. Maybe. I saw lots of bees today though. I usually have no problem going barefoot, but I really had to watch my step today. I hope that means they're recovering.

I've seen them in my yard, as well, but I don't use chemicals and use heirloom seeds. I guess it could be a coincidence that while GM seeds were selling world wide we suddenly had a bee problem.
I don't like the GM seeds, scare me, I'll pay extra for heirloom seeds and thus far the food is amazing. They are slower to come to fruition, but the results are yummy.

I know that. I was disturbed when I was a kid and I asked my dad why we had to buy new seeds every year instead of saving seeds from the previous year, and he explained that they wouldn't be viable. However, hybrids, including genetically modified versions, just grow better than the natural varieties. Thus, they will continue to be used. This very well might cause trouble down the road, but people follow the money. Natural strains still exist, but the demand isn't that great. I'm just being realistic about things.
I doubt GM crops pollute soil if responsible crop-rotating practices are followed.

I know how to identify different types of bees. I had a garden from the age of four up until I left home. I live in Maryland now. In a single thirty foot strip of grass and clover I saw six honeybees and two bumblebees.

I thought there was a farmer there somewhere. I'm not sure the seeds would pollute the dirt. I was thinking more along the lines of pollination and contaminating a near by field. This is happening in Mexico where farmers have saved the original seed for generations. Oh well. No honeybee no food anyway. Hopefully they'll make a comeback, but I wasn't exaggerating. I don't used chemcicals, but there is a field behind my house where a farmer does spray chemicals. Maybe that why and I have been looking for them. Obviously, the honeybee is sensitive. |

Heheh. Next year, plant the beans next to the corn. I never tried it, but it looks cool with the bean plant growing on the corn stalk. Apparently that's how the Native Americans did it.

what is in question here is the morality of what monsanto is doing...
patenting seeds...
and when heirloom crops are contaminated.. monsanto goes to court and convinces the judges that those farmers who have had their crops invaded by the mutant patented pollen are no longer allowed to make money from their crops and are then forced to purchase more mansanto seed because now their crop seed are not viable...
