A company that creates an abomination like the terminator seed is just asking Mother Nature to take them out!
A company that suggests farmers spray even more pesticides on crops is pure evil.
A company that genetically engineers seeds that can withstand the insane application of massive doses of poison simply because said company makes money on pesticides is a company that is pure evil.
Mother nature will take them out in time. Pray that Mother Nature takes them out before they do too much damage.

it is not necessarily the quality of the produce that is in question... although, the consequences of tons of pesticide dousing our food over the generations has yet to be seen in full force...
what is in question here is the morality of what monsanto is doing...
patenting seeds...
and when heirloom crops are contaminated.. monsanto goes to court and convinces the judges that those farmers who have had their crops invaded by the mutant patented pollen are no longer allowed to make money from their crops and are then forced to purchase more mansanto seed because now their crop seed are not viable...

I just thought of something. If a court did rule that only the seeds, not the genes, were property of Monsanto, then they would be forced to make new "upgrades" every year in order to continue making a profit. New changes every year would mean even more opportunities for disastrous mistakes.

Maybe. I saw lots of bees today though. I usually have no problem going barefoot, but I really had to watch my step today. I hope that means they're recovering.

This is some potentially scary stuff that I've honestly never researched before. I don't think lawmakers are going to do anything about it unless or until an "Event" occurs. Too much money still to be made. Hopefully it won't be too late by then. Biotech is a powerful tool, so we need to use it responsibly, not just because we can and it would make a profit.

Actually, Guy, the cornerstone case was a wheat farmer in Canada. He had a sizable amount of farm land and natural heritage seeds which had been cultivated over decades for the climate and the soil of their region.
His crops became contaminated with Monsanto's GM wheat. Monsanto got a court order to take plant samples off his farm, and they proved the some of the wheat this farmer was growing to be Monsanto's. They sued the farmer for growing without a license.
After much investigation, it turned out that a Monsanto truck filled with either GM wheat/seeds had trouble with the trailer tarp while passing this man's farm. The tarp came unfastened, and as it was traveling, the farmer's crops were contaminated by blowing GM seeds into his crops. This was documented because the truck driver reported it at the time of occurrence.
The case dragged on and went through all the courts - I believe to the Canadian highest court. During this time, this farmer was heavily harassed by Monsanto.
The ruling?
The farmer was found guilty.
The farmer was required to pay a fine for growing Monsanto's patented seeds without a license.
The farmer was forced to destroy ALL his silos of wheat seeds/grain that had been cultivated over the generations - his entire livelihood.
The entire process bankrupted this older farmer, and he was, sadly, simply the victim of poor tarping on a trailer.
There is a vid documentary on his story. I'll see if I can locate it and post the link.
There are a couple of similar cases in the US right now.
What is a bit frightening is that Monsanto and other GM companies are ratcheting up their "GM grass" again (Their first big push was in 2006)...this time selling it to the public and to farmers as a solution for cow flatulence. Yes, you read that correctly.
Research has already proven that the GM grass pollen can travel over eight miles in the wind/breeze contaminating everything in sight. The study was conducted in Washington state, I believe.
Congress won't stop it; in fact, the US and Canada are the two countries pushing - more accurately, fighting for - CODEX to pass mandatory international regulations for GM foods and seeds NOT to be labeled.
I'm afraid the harm to nature will be irreparable if we continue at this pace and in this manner.

I cannot locate the documentary. I believe it was in "The Future of Food"; however, the film is for purchase, and I can't locate a site where it is offered free of charge. That's a shame because the entire world needs to see this documentary.

Welcome to now. GM crops are easier to grow and produce bigger harvests on less land. GM crops=bigger profits. People will always go for the biggest payoff. You've already eaten GM food, guaranteed. It's one of those things we can rant about, but have to pay extra to do anything about it. I personally don't see what's wrong with GM crops, except that I feel that copyrighting them is immoral.

Welcome to now. GM crops are easier to grow and produce bigger harvests on less land. GM crops=bigger profits. People will always go for the biggest payoff. You've already eaten GM food, guaranteed. It's one of those things we can rant about, but have to pay extra to do anything about it. I personally don't see what's wrong with GM crops, except that I feel that copyrighting them is immoral.
