Thanks for clarification. How did the value of the houses drop? Job related? Loss of jobs and higher oil prices plus devaluated dollar caused less demand for housing? Quoting: AC 357775
1: People got mortgages on homes.
2: People lost jobs, so can't pay mortgage.

LESTER SEZ:
There is no more wealth creation going on in terms of business activity. No mining, timbering, steel-making, because EPA regs hobbled the industries.
So all your yammering and you throw in a gem like this. You've learned disinformation techniques. Say what the people want to hear and then your pet issue mixed in is ingested as well by the low IQ set.
Look sucker we don't need to destroy the environment because some Neocons decided to loot the country.
They'll just loot the environment if we let them!
You CANNOT be trusted to think clearly.
You are RIGHT WING. That's not what America needs right now.
Right wing? You really don't get it, do you?!?
The environment has already been looted, noob. Now they are working on killing off the poor in 3rd world countries (thru excessive debt and starvation) so they can take what is left in those places.
Everything else is locked up so tight your butt will whistle when you fart.
All of what made the USA independent is gone. It's been sold off for scrap, or locked up by the corporations and the multi-nationals. This is a new kind of socialism...take from the poor and give to the rich.
Damned CORPORATISM/globalism.
These days, we manufacture very little. Our plants and steel mills are being sold off for scrap. Our highways and byways are being sold to the highest foreign bidder and we will pay tribute to them via tolls.
Our small farmers have been bought out and/or forced out by BigAg. BigAg uses chemicals to grow your food. BigAg uses MONSANTO for seed. BigAg wastes fresh water. BigAg pollutes.
CORPORATIONS own you. You own nothing. You ARE nothing. If you don't contribute to the corporation's bottom line, you are expendable. And that is exactly Lester's point.
This all has been part of a grand 60-year plan. The USA will be be broken up and sold off to the highest bidder/bankster. Most of what has happened is the result of INSIDER efforts to destroy us. And they have succeeded.
BigAg will stop producing food if their bottom line is compromised. Pay attention, take heed. Take care of your family. That's is Lester's message.
Here is the full text of an article published in the United States Bankers' Magazine in 1892. It was recently re-published in the New Era and in the Social Crediter, where we took it:
“We must go forward cautiously and consolidate each acquired position, because already the inferior social stratum of society is giving unceasing signs of agitation.
“Therefore, prudence dictates to us a line of conduct that seems to give in to the will of the people, until the execution of our plans be well-enough established for us to be able to declare our intentions without having to fear any organized resistance.
“Our confidence men shall have to closely watch the Farmers Alliance and the Knights of Work, and take steps immediately, either to control both associations in accordance with our interests, or to break them.
“Our men will have to attend the Convention that will be held in Omaha on the 4th of July, and be in charge of all activities. Otherwise, this Convention could muster such an antagonism to our plans that we would have to resort to force to overcome it.
Now, at the present time, using violence would be premature. We are not yet ready to confront such an assault. Money must first of all seek maximum protection in schemes and in legislation.
“Let us make use of the courts. Let us go forward as fast as possible at perceiving debts, at foreclosing (depriving of recourse to justice when a certain time limit has been transgressed) on debentures and mortgages.
“When, through the law's intervention, the common people shall have lost their homes, they will be more easy to control and more easy to govern, and they shall not be able to resist the strong hand of the Government acting in accordance with the orders of the central power of imperial wealth, under the control of the leaders of finance.
“Our top leaders are perfectly aware of the truth. They are presently working at establishing an imperialism of the capital to rule the world. But while they are implementing this plan, they must keep the people busy with political antagonisms.
“We'll therefore speed up the question of reform in the custom rates by the political organization called the Democratic Party; and we'll put the spotlight on the question of protection and of the reciprocity by the Republican Party.
“By dividing the electorate this way, we'll be able to have them spend their energies at struggling amongst themselves on questions that, for us, have no importance whatsoever, and on which we only touch upon as instructors of the common flock.
“It is thus that, through discreet acts, we can maintain what was so generously projected and executed with such a remarkable success.” [link to www.michaeljournal.org]

Well this certainly deserves a reprint!
Excellent post RHSC. Guess in 1892 the monied elitists could be more open with their dirty deeds; didn't have to worry about the internet or you-tube letting the cat out of the bag!
As one of those small farmers whose husband works the requisite in-town job to support the farm, I attest to the intense backdoor efforts of big-agra to beat down and run off all potential competition, even small fry like ourselves.
We all know food is costing more, but that isn't because of increased profit to those who labor to produce the food. If grain/feed/fuel cost increases to the farmer are taken into consideration, farmer is making even less than before.
The latest punch to the gut landed with the horrendous fuel price increases. Farms do not run on elbow grease alone. Even if one has gone back to basics, there is still fuel required for producing/hauling hay to feed animals in winter, hauling animals to/from vet or market, etc. Almost doubled costs for feed/grain are bending us badly enough, and now the increased fuel costs will be the straw that breaks the (already overburdened) back of small farmers.
When the last of the independent farms rolls onto the foreclosure rolls, unable to payoff loans only needed because of horrific feed/fuel cost increases and secured by the farm itself, the plans will be complete and food WILL BE the ultimate control mechanism.
My solution might be *EAT THE RICH* but there ain't enough HAVES to feed all the HAVE-NOTS, and I bet they're all stringy and tough and taste bad anyway! lol |

Just to let you know, farms are still top dollar. Real farms rarely go into foreclosure. Bank usually negotiates a buy from an Agribusiness company. I live in a large farming sector. No recession here. There is always someone to sell food to when you own a smaller farm.
Still lots of unused farmland in the upper-south, ready to be utilized.....
Grow your own! |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 468830 7/25/2008 1:32 PM | | Re: The FED in all out panic mode now | Quote | That's nice Omega, now when the pilots on neighboring farms use roundup and spray their crops, your's will die unless they are Monsanto round-up ready crops. This will KILL your heritage seed. So, where will you go for seed then? MONSANTO, they'll be the only company with seed that has survived the spraying.
As more and more people do this, supply and demand...the prices of the seed go up and up and up...then the food will have to be nationalized like everything else. |

May I suggest that you use mulch, as much as you can get? Old rotted hay bales are easiest to use; just peel off a section like a book page, so thick as you like, and cover the ground around-abouts your desired plants.
Keeps weeds down pretty good, conserves moisture, and as it rots into the ground, enriches the soil.
Now, I'd have to import hay bales to this island at great expense, but even so by cutting grass, buttercups, etc., can get PILES of soon-to-be mulch just from this lot in TrailerTown. Let it rot for a while to kill the weed seed, and spread as desired. If I bothered to go another 100 feet, could get more than I could possibly use, so I'm sure you can come up with some sort of mulch. Lawn cllippings, what ever.
Any decent organic detritus can function as mulch, and I'd recommend mulch to all gardeners. It meets mine single standard for physical reality: it works.
Really, Omega, it actually does work and also reduces work.
Try it; you WILL like it, I promise.
Wish I could grow so well as you, but these are the Eastern Aleutian Islands after all, and we've had NO SUMMER! COLDEST ON RECORD!
I believe the technical term is ... waaaaaaah

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A senior U.S. lawmaker urged securities regulators to slow down a pending accounting change that could force banks to bring trillions of dollars back on their balance sheets, according to a letter obtained by Reuters on Friday.
Republican Rep. Spencer Bachus of Alabama said in the letter, dated July 22, that the accounting change may have serious unintended consequences.
"Changes to securitization accounting could have a dramatic impact on the economy, the capital markets and consumers seeking credit," he said in the letter to the chairmen of the Securities and Exchange Commission and the accounting rule maker, the Financial Accounting Standards Board.
Bachus said January 1, 2010 would be a more realistic deadline than this year for finalizing accounting changes as it would allow "stakeholders" to have the time to debate alternatives and consequences.
FASB is working on a proposal to eliminate certain off-balance sheet entities called qualified special purpose entities (QSPEs) used to pool debt such as mortgages and student loans.
The board plans to issue the proposal in August despite concerns that banks and other financial firms like Freddie Mac (FRE.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and Fannie Mae (FNM.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) would have to raise billions in capital at a difficult time.
The SEC had no comment and does not comment on letters. Calls to FASB were not immediately returned. |

Since you have pines about, likely your soil is acidic and needs to be treated with lime. That's a guess, now. You probably need bone meal, too.
Your county agricultural service ought to be able to test your soil and tell you what's going on and what you should do. A service free or inexpensive, and one I reommend.
Use hay, grass, lawn clippings, many (NOT all) leaves, the like. If you use weeds, be sure and heap it all up and compost it some, let it rot, to kill the seeds. Helps to chop it up some.
Old news papers work fine, and I don't believe the ink hurts anything. Hell, even opaque plastic sheet will do, but organic is better as it enriches the soil.
