France enters the modern age and throws out their lazy ass laws limiting hard work and ambition. No longer will police look for lights on in office buildings late at night so they can throw the hard workers into jail.

MPs vote to scrap France's compulsory 35-hour week

French workers were in mourning yesterday verysad for their cherished but controversial 35-hour week, after Nicolas Sarkozy's centre-right party pushed through an employment reform that effectively kills off one of the socialist era's defining policies.

The law, due to come into effect as early as August, will allow companies to decide how many hours and how much overtime their employees clock up every week. Instead of the current maximum of 218 days a year, white-collar workers could be expected to work as many as 235 days.

Sarkozy, who was elected last year with the campaign slogan "work more to earn more", regards the 35-hour week as a major drag on the French economy, arguing that those who want to work more should not be stopped from doing so.

greeeeat so they can turn out like us working 55 hours but getting paid for 40 and STILL falling behind due to inflation? Sounds like a good plan - let's spread it around some more.

They were not lazy, the idea was to share the work as there was (and still is) less work, to permit everyone to have a job and to be part of the society.

Nothing to do with being lazy...if the jobless rate comes to 12 or 13% it's a pretty good idea.
Moreover the technological progress should allow everyone to work less and to enjoy more life, familly, sports and education for self. This is a good society !
But all at the opposite most people are working a lot and had just to get money ! For not having the time to enjoy it !

You just do the play of the Elite who wants you to work more for them to have more profits and more million on they Bank accounts, and you ? Did you really come to life to work ? Or do you work to live ?

? ? ? ? ? ?
