any great ideas on how to make $$$$ for kids sports

I have 2 gifted boys in hockey and lacrosse (lacrosse is way more reasonable and a shorter season)

but development cost is super high I am currently a little over 3000.00 in the red for camps fees ect for hockey this summer

not inclusive of travel/sign up for the next season aprox 10,000 as we are heading to Ottawa for the Bell Cup

yes I/we work but competitive sports is REALLy expensive my boys work hard to make the teams and it is great incentive for them to do well at school

also they are great role models for aboriginal kids as there are hardly any aboriginal kids given the opportunity to play competitive sports

know of any grants? we are in Canada they are 10 and 11 years old

i really do not want them to miss out because of $$$$

what is playing sports going to do for you children?
do you think they are going to grow up and be famous hockey players or something?
honest question.

Bake sales
Car washes
Rummage sales
RAFFLES ~ get donated items from local stores and hold a raffle. Sell tickets at Walmart or at other sports functions.

People are willing to help them who help themselves. Businesses are tired of donating, but they will donate if you somehow advertise for them. Make a flyer with the names of businesses who have donated to your cause (raffle). Display the advertisement prominently at your ticket-sales table, or on T-shirts (for sale). Think of some cute saying and have T-shirts made to sell with the businesses listed on the back.

Example:

My kid plays Hockey, and all I get is the bill! :-)

My kid loves Hockey ~ $3,000
My kid GETS to play Hockey ~ Priceless :-)

You get the gist! ;-)

Yes. My heart was set on being a Professional Bowler, I excelled in school and stayed out of trouble. I don't drink nor have I ever did drugs.

I became a Professional Bowler.

My son is two years away from being signed by the Yankees as a catcher. He's GREAT and it takes alot of hard work, talent to say no to others and money.

It cost alot of money and time but if the child has Big dreams they will come true.

Watch and see.

Great Job on your boy, keep up the good work.

His coach our friend helps with alot of the Camp Fees. We pick up the rest. Gee I can't remember buying new clothes for myself anymore. I just where my same clothes that I had years ago. I'd rather buy what he needs I feel great when his eyes shine back at me with happiness.

playing sports teaches kids competitiveness, setting and achieving goals, discipline, teamwork, how to win, how to lose etc etc etc.

sounds like you never played sports.

Back in the day kids could organize themselves to play football or baseball in the park, or abandoned lot without $$$ or uniforms or parents holding their hands the whole way.

This generation has no ingenuity.

I weep for the future.

They BELIEVE they WILL be sucessfull

my older son wore too small skates from the thrift store and his feet bled for a week

My older sons team just one the SILVER for the Province Championship's this past weekend in Lacrosse
