Infotainment I think is the term. |

Just like with the destruction of the Library of Alexandria, I'm supposed to believe that not one single person had a plan to save the most valuable scrolls, artifacts, and inventions stored at this repository in the event of imminent doom. Yeah, right...
We will NEVER know about our ancient past. However, maybe the deep vaults of the Vatican could reveal some semblance of ancient truth. |

The ancient Roman houses drew their air and light in through the holes in the atrium and peristylium.
So it was a whole system, loosely based by the now defunct donut operating system. I'm going to be a nuclear chemist!
What runs around yelling "YOU'RE FUCKING DOOMED", the terrorist that arms the other terrorists with Astrolyte!
I'm going to continue playing with chemicals until you decide it's not a great idea for me to freeze my arse off.

The new thing according to the article is that they have found inscriptions for the Olympic games on one of its dials, indicating that it may have used the Olympics as a time passage mark instead of some astronomical event. That seems to bring up questions that the article is not clear on. (Is it devoid of astronomical reference? Is it only self-referencing?)
Regardless, the Olympic inscriptions are the new thing. |

Uh, Granpa, the OP's article is titled:
Olympic link to early 'computer'
I've been reading about the device for many years now. The
Olympic bit is from newer research on the artifact.
You really ought to try reading the article posted. "Sooner or later all the peoples of the world will have to discover a way to
live together in peace, and thereby transform this pending cosmic elegy into
a creative psalm of brotherhood. If this is to be achieved, man must evolve
for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression, and retaliation.
The foundation of such a method is love."

But the Romans stole everything they had. Well they conquered that is. That sounds much like M$. Read - for thy sustainer is the most bountiful one, who has taught the use of the pen, taught man what he did not know!
Nay verily man becomes grossly overweening, whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: for behold unto thy sustainer all must return.

in 2005 hewlett packard developed a tomograph especially for the antikythira device, bringing to light the intricacies involved in the mechanism along with writing (in Ellenic), giving scientists and researchers alike more pieces to the puzzle.
on the cover of the device the purchaser of it has written its worth, his weight in gold.
it is composed of 39 cogs on 15 separate axis, signifying the lunar months and solar months with a variety of ancient festivals as reference points. the major calender is divided by 253 months, which is the only system to bring the 2 calenders in synch in order to show the ecliptic days (lunar and solar)among other things like the transition of the moon.
the mathematics involved invoke kuipers second law 1900years before it was established??????
