Lithium-ion batteries will give the best range in electric cars and bikes, some cars can go over 200 miles with lithium-ion batteries. More powerful motor, controller, wiring, batteries and you are 90% there! I bought a 16hp electric motor and high current controller on ebay for $700. The amount of money you have for batteries would dictate range. The amount of money you have to spend on a motor controller would dictate performance (i.e. acceleration) more money buys you more current capacity which buys you better acceleration. I did a project with a 1000A controller with an 9" Advanced DC Motor. System make 500 ft-lbs of torque! Ford, GM and Chrysler are milking the government for money on this one! I read almost the whole thread, and this is one of the only logical comments I read. All of this is easily obtainable knowledge, there is nothing complex about this. All the hard stuff was already done, he basically put together pieces of legos... Although I am not going to rag on him, at least he's attempting, although maybe late on his part. People are not fucking idiots! If one person learns from this it is ok. |

I live in a planned community where there are golf cart/bike paths through the town (they are separate from the roads). We can use our electric golf carts to go to the doctor, the grocery store, the restaurants, etc. Even the high school has a golf cart parking lot. More towns need to look into this type of thing. |
