A senior Hizbullah commander says that while the group does not seek war with Israel, it is ready for one and is stronger than before. Meanwhile, Lebanon's national unity government agreed on a statement that political sources said grants Hizbullah the right to use all possible means to liberate "occupied land."

The policy statement, expected to be approved by Lebanon's cabinet Monday, recognizes the right of Lebanon, its government, people and resistance to use all means possible to regain Lebanese sovereignty over Shebaa Farms and nearby Israeli-held parts of Ghajjar village

Earlier, Hizbullah's Sheikh Nabil Kaouk told the UK's Telegraph that "the resistance is now stronger than before and this keeps the option of war awake. If we were weak, Israel would not hesitate to start another war."

"When Hizbullah is strong, our strength stops Israel from starting a new war," he said. "We don't seek war, but we must be ready." Kaouk also confirmed that Hizbullah was being assisted by both Iran and Syria.

"We are proud of our friendship with Iran and with Syria and every country which helps us to gain our rights," he said. However, when asked where Hizbullah's weapons were originating, Kaouk said: "All parties in Lebanon are getting weapons. No one asks from where."

Asked about the prospect of an Israeli strike on Iran and Hizbullah's response to such development, the senior commander said: "I doubt that Israel will attack Iran because they know the consequences."

In a recent speech delivered at the Labor party offices in Tel Aviv, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that “the Hizbullah has doubled or tripled the amount of missiles it has in the last two years.:

Barak added that Hizbullah's missiles "can reach all parts of Israel.”

“Today, the wheel of the state has begun to roll,” he said. “Do not allow any space for corruption and sectarianism in this country, because we are standing in front of the door to dialogue and the achievement of justice. Be the protectors of the nation and the people,” the President also told the new officers.

"Lebanon suffered a great deal to fight terror and it needs its army's sacrifices," the president said, stressing that Lebanon's strength comes from the army's unity. He called for unifying the army's ranks, ending internal discord and avoiding corruption to build a capable state.

Suleiman urged the army to confront "violators" to avoid civil strife and stressed the need to safeguard the military's unity. "Do not hesitate to curb violators no matter what their affiliations are," Suleiman told graduating cadets at the Military Academy in Fayadieh. "Isn't it a duty to confront anyone who shoots" at his compatriot? Suleiman asked.

“The Lebanese army fought fierce battles in the Nahr al-Bared camp” at this time last year, Sleiman recalle, referring to the Lebanese Armed Forces’ summer-long fight against the Fatah al-Islam organization in the northern Palestinian refugee camp, a fight Suleiman himself oversaw, as the army commander at the time. “You have preserved our national unity with your sweat and blood. Do not let it be shaken now,” the President said.

Suleiman also named the 2007 graduation class the "Class of United National Will."

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Fouad Saniora and other officials attended the celebration of the 63rd anniversary of the military institution's establishment.

Beirut- The Islamic Resistance has issued a statement condemning Israel's alleged violations of the ceasefire that ended the July-August 2006 War, the newspaper Al-Akhbar reported on Wednesday saying it was close to adopting "operational steps" against the Jewish state.

Al-Akhbar quoted informed sources as saying it appears that the Islamic resistance, "which waited since May 2000 to stop these violations, and then waited for two years (more) for Lebanese and international diplomacy to succeed in stopping these violations, is close to taking operational steps in order to compel Israel to stop these violations."

"The Israeli enemy's persistence in its violations of Lebanese airspace, territorial waters, and territory, especially during the last few days, is an unacceptable provocative escalation that calls for condemnation and serious action on the part of the concerned Lebanese authorities as well as U.N. bodies," the statement by the Islamic resistance said.

This was the first statement of its kind to be issued by the Islamic Resistance since the end of military operations in August 2006.

The Islamic Resistance also asked the authorities in Lebanon and at the United Nations what measures should be taken to stop these violations, the daily reported.

The statement went on to say that "if merely one violation of Lebanese airspace and borders represents a blatant aggression against Lebanese sovereignty, if the aggression is repeated hundreds of times in one week, day and night, from north to south and from east to west, accompanied by mock maneuvers above the southern coast in which warplanes, reconnaissance airplanes, and helicopters participate, in full view of the international forces and their warships, which represents an impudent diligence in targeting [Lebanese] sovereignty and an affront to national dignity as well as a violation of international laws, it is necessary to put an end to these violations right away, and all parties concerned must assume responsibility for completely stopping these flagrant violations."

Internally the majority did not appreciate the timing of the Hezbollah communiquÃ© : MP Mustapha Alloush told al Sharq el Awsat : "The timing of the last statement of Hezbollah was to coincide with the main obstacle facing the cabinet.. the Hezbollah arms . the statement was meant to exert pressure on the Lebanese cabinet."

According to local observers Lebanon had officially complained to the UN every time Israel violated the Lebanese airspace and so did the UNIFIL organization , but Israel continued with its violations and have provided Hezbollah , Iran and Syria with an excuse for renewed violence
