NASA is arrogant and destructive, they refuse to acknowledge the obvious and have idiots in charge. When the last shuttle was destroyed returning to earth, NASA claimed it was nothing they could have done to save it. Lie, the engineers saw the damage at take off and asked the air force to photograph the shuttle in orbit. The new Woman in charge of operations cancelled the order, and ridiculed the engineers. She was a IDIOT. NASA censors Apollo astronaunts who have reported ET visits and contact. NASA is a joke.

Earth is around 4.5 billion years old. We know by testing geology and fossils records. Kennewick Man is more than 9,300 years old, and could be the oldest mummy found.

My theory is that before the great flood covered the earth ( geology and fossils records, plus scriptures, & accounts told about the great flood in different cultures ) That there were space explorers, and advanced technology in those days. Possible some had to stay in space, or flee to Mars or other planets. However I would not put anything past Nasa & Homeland Security to claim they found Aliens, and to increase global security to "save" us. Of course we never went there. The whole idea is preposterous.

We can photograph almost every inch of land on our own planet, photograph every planet in the solar system, photograph galaxies that are millions of miles away... but we can't take a photo from the earth of the items left on the moon, after the 'landings'.

The REAL headline should read "White House briefs NASA on what it can tell the public". In other words what lies can we get away with this time?

I always find this fascinating. It's like that kid at camp; "Hey, everybody, I found an arrowhead!" "George, that's a rock." And a few minutes later you hear him over by the campfire; "Hey, everybody, look at this arrowhead!" "That's a rock, George." And a few minutes later, he's showing it to some girls down by the creek; "Hey, look at this cool arrowhead I found!" "That's not an arrowhead; that's just a rock!" the girls say.

But he never listens. He never replies. And he never learns.

Then when George has grown up, he got degrees in geology and archeology.

He learnshis arrow head he found as a child was indeed a rock. He also learns the Incas, Aztecs, & Mayans Indians used flint and obsidian to shape tools, knives, and arrowheads. Yes his rock was obsidian, tooled into an arrowhead. He learned His hunch/gut instinct was right.

Now, The reason everyone at his boyhood camp didn't see that it was an arrowhead, was because it was missing the point.....

Scientists analyzing two soil samples their Phoenix spacecraft dug from the surface of Mars announced they have discovered what may be the highly oxidizing chemical called perchlorate, a common component of rocket fuels, explosives and some medicines, they reported Monday.

The surprising discovery in the Martian soil seems contradictory, because if it really is confirmed as a perchlorate compound it suggests that the planet's soil may be very much like Earth's, said Peter Smith, the University of Arizona scientist who heads the Phoenix mission.

However, Smith said in his announcement, "further analysis has revealed un-Earthlike aspects of the soil chemistry."

And whether the chemical actually is perchlorate - or in which of its many compounds it exists in the Martian soil - has not yet been determined, Smith said.

The Phoenix science team would not speculate on whether the chemical is naturally part of the Martian soil or whether it might have contaminated the soil directly around the spacecraft when Phoenix landed gently on the arctic plains of Mars on May 25, slowed by its 12 hydrazine retro-rockets in a blast of gas for its safe upright landing. Hydrazine is not a perchlorate, however.

NASA officials and the scientists will hold a teleconference today to discuss steps the Phoenix team has taken over the past month to pin down the identity of the perchlorate and why an experiment Sunday by one of its instruments found no evidence of the chemical directly above an ice layer that was scraped from soil near the spacecraft.

Two samples of the chemical have now been analyzed and detected on Mars by the spacecraft's miniaturized Wet Chemistry Lab, which is part of a more elaborate series of Phoenix instruments called MECA -for Microscopy, Electrochemistry and Conductivity Analyzer, Smith said.

An earlier measurement of surface soil by another Phoenix instrument called TEGA - for the Thermal and Evolved Gas Analyzer - "was consistent with but not conclusive of the presence of perchlorate," Smith said.

On Earth, perchlorates are used in many types of explosives - including the rockets that blast astronauts into orbit aboard the space shuttles. They are also commonly used in fireworks, in blasting caps and even in medicine as part of a combination treatment for hyperthyroidism.

It is also a serious and toxic environmental contaminant left over from many American chemical plants, and Congress is now in a battle with the Environmental Protection Agency over the EPA's refusal to set safety standards for perchlorates in drinking water and milk.

I don't know Kanigo2, the distilled water, plastic water bottles and or cups, very possible to have been contaminated.
Even distilled water can become tainted, and this is what was used in mixing the Mars soil.

But, since the word explosives was used, it wouldn't be shocking they would use this to tighten homeland global security against the Martian terrorists. Who else landed on Mars, Russia, China? That could also explain the rocket fuel.

Wastes from the manufacture and improper disposal of perchlorate-containing chemicals are increasingly being discovered in soil and water.

There have been confirmed perchlorate releases in at least 25 states throughout the United States. EPA, other federal agencies, states, water suppliers and industry are working to address perchlorate contamination through monitoring for perchlorate in drinking water and source water and developing treatment technologies that can remove perchlorate from drinking water.

How is perchlorate removed from water?
Several types of treatment systems designed to reduce perchlorate concentrations are operating around the United States, reducing perchlorate to below the 4 ppb quantitation level. Biological treatment and ion (anion) exchange systems are among the technologies that are being used, with additional treatment technologies under development.

Perchlorates are the salts derived from perchloric acid (HClO4). They occur both naturally and through manufacturing. They have been used as a medicine for more than 50 years to treat thyroid gland disorders. They are also used as an oxidizer in rocket fuel and explosives and can be found in airbags, fireworks, and Chilean fertilizers. Both potassium perchlorate (KClO4) and ammonium perchlorate (NH4ClO4) are used extensively within the pyrotechnics industry, whereas ammonium perchlorate is a component of solid rocket fuel. Lithium perchlorate, which decomposes exothermically to give oxygen, is used in oxygen "candles" on spacecraft, submarines and in other esoteric situations where a reliable backup or supplementary oxygen supply is needed. Most perchlorate salts are soluble in water.[1]

NASA reports that: "Within the last month [July 2008], two samples have been analyzed by the Wet Chemistry Lab of the spacecraft's Microscopy, Electrochemistry, and Conductivity Analyzer, or MECA, suggesting one of the soil constituents may be perchlorate, a highly oxidizing substance." It is still unknown whether the perchlorate originates from the space ship or if it occurs naturally on Mars.
The source of the perchlorate has not yet been evaluated fully, and may represent possible extra-Martian (Earth-sourced) contamination via the Phoenix lander itself. This is however unlikely since the Phoenix used ultrapure hydrazine for its retro rockets, and the perchlorate was found below the surface and at concentrations higher than would be expected from contamination during Earth launch operations.

The simplest answer to the origin of that would be....

perchlorates have been found in earth's drinking water too. I can't rule out contaminated water, distilled or not. The FDA's regulations are not as tight for distilled water, as for drinking or tap water, remember.

But however it got on Mars, contaminated water, rocket fuel, Chinese fireworks I smell a snow job in the works.
