>Pawning for Potatoes - I have a few clients and readers are in the pawn shop and/or jewelry business. There emails are great - Behind Enemy Lines - information. Let me share a few with you, because people are now selling what’s left just to put a meal on the table:

1 - 3/4 kt round diamond ring, vs1, color G, 14kt gold setting with 8 diamonds.....lady needed $200 because her water got shut off

2 - I had a guy come in with his wife. She was crying because they were selling her engagement ring. It was all they had left. He walked out crying and I wanted to shut the shop down for the day. Its getting gut wrenching.

3 - The BMW 7 Series people are showing up with goods.

4 - Today a financial planner with sterling candlesticks. This is crazy.

5 - This week we had our busiest week in the history of our company. All three locations. My cousin in California has six shops and he has doubled the size of his staff since the first of the year. Where does it end.

6 - The people coming in lately are not what we saw a year ago. I have to say more than half of my business is white collar and when you consider dollar value it is 80% or more. You have been right on the money Mike.

7 - July was a record month and a very tough month emotionally. I have been doing this for 30 years. I never seen so many people coming in just to pay for food. What do they do next?<

It would be a sob story if they didn't walk out of the shop and go buy a case of beer with their newly aquired cash. I see people with hungry kids supporting their drug and alcohol addictions.

Thank you mr. bush, I bought a 30-foot boat with my rebate check!

Must have been a piece of crap to get a 30ft boat for $600. Sounds like a money pit to me. Let me know in 5 years how much you lose on that deal.

Unfortunately, I think this has to happen...total and utter collapse before things can change for the better. As a society we have so little foresight, live for today..and screw tomorrow, live for yourself, and screw the other guy. Whether we like it or not, we live in a global society and we're just going to have to deal with that as a humanity who inhabits this planet. We as individuals, and as a whole can no longer take action that doesn't effect everything and everybody. This is our next big step into our evolution. Learn to live together or die.

Re: DEPRESSION - "TOTALLY UNAVOIDABLE"Quote

I've been saying for years that in order for the last days to take place the USA needs to be removed as a super power.

A superpower is created by one of two ways- having military superiority (in this sense China is already a military superpower, able to call upon 200 million plus active military personnel) which the USA is a minor player - only really superior when it comes to nuclear weaponry. As we clearly see in Iraq, the USA's technology is no good in real theaters of modern warfare. if anything all of that technology is a burden.

The second way that a superpower is a superpower is via its economy and its currency. Currently the US dollar is still 'popular' around the globe. That popularity has afforded the US the strength to be a superpower. this is the USA's only true source of power - the confidence in the dollar. Since nothing really backs the dollar once that confidence is lost, the US economy follows soon after - and the position of superpower is lost immediately.

The USA will not fall in chaos and bedlam - it can't because its population is no good at making chaos and bedlam - yes a few individuals are capable of such, but the sheer inertia of the traditions and how the people act will continue to force 'order' upon the society.

Even the USA's more recent (historically speaking) Civil unrest (civil rights movement) was only done by a small minority of the population. The average working stiff stayed at home, may have felt some leanings toward the movement, but could not bring them self to actually stepping out and confronting The Man. The college students could, having nothing to lose I suppose, or perhaps were not old enough to understand the futility of protesting - we note that that generation grew older and is now unable to raise a voice against things like unnecessary war, the stripping of civil rights, the loss of constitutional freedoms which only a few decades ago they marched proudly to give to all people equally. They grew older and understand keenly that protesting does not accomplish much.

America's population is mostly older - we are in the period of the Great Retirement of the Baby-Boomers. It is they who wield the most power - and we see how well they wield that power.

Your average American will 'bite the bullet' having no where to turn they will turn to 'American Pride' or the 'Yankee Spirit' internalizing their rage and sense of betrayal to 'work together' to salvage something and to rebuild.

That is the American Way in a nutshell.

That 'way' will win out in the end.

Yes the USA will never be a superpower again, it will be like England a proud once-upon-a-time superpower which will hold its head up high, but will not wield as much power in the international scene, but may very well carry more respect by other nations as does England today.

Here's the answer:

"When through the process of the law, the common people have lost their homes, they will be more tractable and easily governed through the influence of the strong arm of the government applied to a central power of imperial wealth under the control of the leading financiers."

-US Congressman Charles A. Lindbergh Sr. from Minnesota before the US Congress during his term of office between the years of 1907 and 1917

CREDIT CREDIT CREDIT,CHARGE IT is what is keeping the economy from totaly collapsing. If we did not have credit cards people would not impulse buy as they would have to save up money for a new TV or video game system and the credit companies just want to keep you in debt.

Re: DEPRESSION - "TOTALLY UNAVOIDABLE"Quote

Like I said in a related thread: Our gov't has an agenda. In order to do away with our current system, they need to break it. If "they" (TPTB) really wanted to save the system, they would try to fix it. But if you look at how bad things really are and the insane philosophy that the current and past admin's have stood by, it really makes sense. TPTB, that are running this sham want to bankrupt the system and put in a new, more totalitarian cabal that rules not just our nation but all nations. But to do this, they need to break that which exists and replace it with that which restricts (freedom). For all you nay sayers out there, I hope that my words are wrong in my prediction. I love freedom, and that won't change. Unfortunately, the establishments that have been created, seem to be morphing into a super infrastructure of control, rather than than that of liberty. God bless us all.

Sadly, that is extremely intuitive.

CFR- Rockefeller loved the fact China could get things done and held them in high regard.

Statement of the day.

If you even started a thread on it,you would get no posts.
There is nothing to disagree with.
