I think this is good news. Microsoft, or some outfit like them, was necessary IMO to get personal computing off the ground. And this competition, long delayed through MS's nefarious business practices, is also a very good thing. It is no longer possible for MS to entirely destroy their competition, so in the long run things ought to be better for us all.
