How Will We Survive The Coming Depression?
Quote

In the 1930’s, many people lived on farms or in small, close knit towns. They were able to rely on their extended family, who lived nearby or even with them in the same household. Although unemployment at one point rose to nearly 25%, there were still 75% of the people who did have a job and sometimes there were odd jobs available for those who were unemployed to earn a small amount of cash.
What will the next depression, what some are calling the impending Greater Depression, look like?
Today’s American society is more disconnected. Families are dispersed across the country and many people don’t know their neighbor’s names much less whether they can rely on their neighbor if necessary. Today’s society is much more violent than it was in the 1930’s and a lot of people, feeling isolated and desperate, might get desperate enough to resort to violence, robbery, and murder to get by. Traditional American family values are long gone, replaced by the MTV culture and urban warfare training provided by games like GTA San Andreas.
On the flipside, there are programs in place today such as food stamps that were not in place in the 1930’s. Such programs will soften the blow on many families, but where will the line be drawn? Will a family who filed a tax return this year showing $200,000 in income be allowed on these programs when that $200,000 income vaporizes and they have to live in their Cadillac Escalade?
Another concern is how the country would be able to pull itself out of a depression today. In the last depression, unemployment didn’t fall below 10% until World War II. During the war, American factories pumped out military hardware. If you didn’t have a job, you could enlist. Today, American manufacturing has been exported to China, Mexico, and India. Who will build the American military hardware of WW3, should it come to that? Even now, there are replacement parts on American military aircraft which are manufactured in China.
What scenarios and hardships do you think Americans will face in the Great Depression Part 2? How will America pull itself out of it?

Dig in dumpsters at fast food places? May I suggest McDonalds. There tiny cheese burgers are decent when they wrap them tight and then toss them.

Get with like minded people into communities away from the major cities and live off the land.
