With all these threats against all these countries all it takes is 1 NATO country to have something happen in order for this to be WW3 instantly. Major fork in the road times were living in. The main thing that makes me think all is lost is because neither the U.S,NATO,Russia want to look weak in this crisis. Which makes me think that this will just keep escalating. I have to agree with you somewhat and hope your right.
But we live in very dangerous Times ...
We have Vlad Putin that wants to be Tsar of all the Russias and rebuild an empire.
We have Bush and the Neo-Cons that want "A New American Century" over the world.
We have China that wants to be a Super power.
We have India and Pakistan that want to be Nuclear Powers.
All these wants and no body is willing to give a inch is very dangerous times indeed.

What probably none of you know was that the Butchers of Russia like Stalin and Lenin were Masons.

LS said on another thread that the response to Georgia's 'genocide' was so massive that there's no way it was a response to it, and I agree.

I have first hand experience living in the Third Reich, in Los Angeles to be specific.
Saakashvili is clearly an English speaking idiot to have thought he could get away with a military assault on South Ossetia on the opening day of the Olympics (yes, he started the fighting, not the Russians).
For all of you amateurs out there, military people in all countries have contingency plans in place, including the Russians. They used theirs to good effect.
Also, what about all the praise for Israel in the 7 days war. Any reasonable person recognizes that was a well planned assault and did not just happen. So why do the Israelis get credited for that and the Russians condemned?
All of this goes back to Clinton and the assault on Serbia. This is the payback and it is about time. Objectively, as was said by another poster, the Georgians need a crushing defeat for what they did - an artillery assault on a civilian area and killing outnumbered Russian peacekeepers. This all kind of gets lost on major TV channels doesn't it?
What should happen now? The Russians should arrest Saakashvili and put him on trial for war crimes. I am guessing that therre are enough reasonable people in Georgia that they would fully support this. Saakashvili was elected by only 52% in a rigged election last time. |

I think that the US could have a non-imperialist foreign policy that would be strongly reactive if someone started pushing things. That is a dream isn't it?
