The sound component
Ancient Greeks once remarked that "geometry is frozen music". To their Egyptian teachers, sacred geometry and music were inextricably linked since the laws of the former govern the mathematical intervals that make up the notes in the western music scale- the diatonic ratios. Coincidentally, Hawkins' Euclidean theorems had also produced diatonic ratios. So for the first time, geometric theorems were linked with music and crop circles were proved to contain musical notes, which are themselves the by-product of the harmonic laws of sound frequency.
The fields themselves offered blatant clues pointing to a sound component. In 1996 a crop circle demonstrated the combination of two important figures, the 3, 4, 5 triangle and the Golden Mean, which gives us the diagram necessary to produce musical ratios (as exemplified in The Divine Proportion by H.E. Huntley).
Then, an outstanding formation at Goodwood Clatford- which had its plants bent six inches from the top - gave the proverbial nod to sound. For here was a representation of a cymatic pattern in 5000 sq. ft of barley. And it led straight to a smoking gun.

The medium is the message with the circles. The fact that they are here and that they are unexplainable by our current understanding is a big part of their complex layered message. Opening minds to the possibility of other technologies and forms and codes of information. We must remember that science is magic we understand and magic is science we don't.

Interestingly, the Aborigines relate to this trilling sound. During their ceremonies to contact- in their words- the sky spirits, a 'bora' consisting of a specially-shaped piece of wood is attached to the end of a long string and whirled, creating a noise practically identical to the crop circle hum. One has to wonder where the inspiration for this device came from, who these sky spirits were, and what on earth made the timeless Aborigines associate this noise with them. That was until it was discovered that not only have crop circles appeared in Australia, many throughout the 1960s, but their manifestation figures in Aboriginal lore, just as their geometries appear in rock paintings.

The Chilcomb Crop Circle formation opened my eyes to the metaphorical language of Crop Circle design symbolism, and was the first pictogram I ‘deciphered’. The following year I learned that professor Gerald S Hawkins had discovered ‘musical ratios’ reflected in the mathematics and geometry of certain Crop Circle formations, including the Chilcomb pictogram!

I will reveal a secret: the recent Milk Hill crop circle

has a musical meaning. The central (4+4) circles denote the first four notes of the Dorian mode (D scale) and their four inversions. The 21 circles in each half of the figure-of-eight denote the 21 notes between the tonic and octave in the seven types of musical scales. The (21+21+8=50) circles therefore denote the tonic, octave and the 48 notes between them in the eight Church musical modes used in Gregorian chant:
Dorian-Hypomixolydian (these are identical scales)
Phrygian-Hypophrygian
Lydian-Hypolydian
Mixolydian-Hypomixolydian
What you see depicted here is the perfect mathematical pattern of all possible sequences of notes generated by the Pythagorean musical scale.
Why music? Because the possible frequencies that make up the seven types of scales conform to a UNIVERSAL PATTERN:
.................50 = 2 + 4 + 4 + 21 + 21
that is found in all holistic systems embodying the divine paradigm. These frequencies are easy to calculate. All I will say here is that they have 14 different values. |
