MOSCOW (AFP)--Russian forces have seized a "large arsenal" of U.S.-made weapons in the western Georgian city of Senaki including hundreds of assault rifles, a military spokesman said Friday.
"In Senaki, we seized a large arsenal of weapons including 664 U.S.-made M-16 rifles" and a number of M-40 sniper rifles, General Anatoly Nogovitsyn told a news conference in Moscow. "There were 1,728 weapons total."

I agree. I am totally on the side of Russia in this. I dont think they started this at all. The U.S. has armed a violent government of Georgia. It is the U.S. and Georgia's fault.

But all war must stop one way or the other.

What's funny is that the AK-47 is a VERY forgiving weapon.
Guys I talked to who were in Vietnam told me that the M-16
sucked in comparison. Tiny bit of dirt and your M-16 was
useless, while the AK-47 could take all kinds of punishment
and still fire.

m-16's always jam? lol,,, ummmm like forty years ago

i have put close to a thousand rounds through mine with no cleaning and no jams

they were junk in the early days, rightly called a mattel toy and poodle shooter, but they have been drastically improved in every aspect, reliable and accurate, hitting power is still questionable, but bullet placement is what it is
the AK is a very functional weapon, children can operate them and do, but they have always sucked in accuracy, and that is still true

the role of an Ak in battle is best summed up by a russian general, "quantity has a quality of all its own", which means he who gets the most lead down range will win


That was actually Stalin who said that. And I have very
little assault rifle expertise so I will take your word for
it on the better quality of the M-16. I was very disappointed
in USAF basic training when they had us shoot a modified
M-16. It shot 22 caliber bullets. That was back in 1979.

they did the same in the navy, i joined in 80, seems like a hundred years ago
