my chow / pitbull mix was very smart. very good guard dog. would alert me when someone was close to our home. only would bark when needed. not just at anything like other dogs. good with family and friends. tough on strangers. territorial with other dogs. no matter how big LOL. very well behaved. playfull, energetic. its a good mix when trained and treated right. i am currently looking for this mix again. it is best if u raise them since little pups. i got mine at 2 months old! greatest dog ever!

A chow/pit mix was one of the sweetest smartest dogs I ever had as a pet. He also had a good sense of humor. But he did not like cocker spaniels for some reason.

It depends on the seasoning and how they're cooked.

I recently adopted a pitbull, chow, lab mix..and also have a pitbull, retriver mix dog. I would like to state that I am appauled and what the responses that I read... My dog ginger (pit/ret) is AMAZING with my two year old daughter, and has never shown any sort of aggresion towards anyone in our family, she is protective over us, but Ive never had a single problem making her stop. Its very sad to see so many people down on a breed of dog. Pitbulls ARE NOT BRED TO FIGHT AS THEIR SOLE PURPOSE!!!! Blame the trainer not the breed!!! Wake up people, these poor pitbulls are getting the bad wrap for a few jerks who cant respect their animals. And quite the contrary,,, pitbulls are loyal, sensitive, extremly smart, and honestly out of all the rescue dogs that I facilitate and release to happy homes I must say Pitbulls (and the mixes more so) tend to be more caring, sensitive and gentle then the bull mastives or chihuahas. I mean come on how many chihuahas have you seen that just yip and bark and do what...? ANKLE BITE! But thats not a problem because theyre small. Its very sad to see our world perspective is the same for animals as it is people. We decide to judge people on their skin tone and the amount of money that they make, or where they live, and decided what "catagory they fit into. Just as we do dogs...

Re: Is mix of PIT BULL and CHOW CHOW a dangerous mix or not?
No it isn't...i have a chow chow/ pitt bull mix and shes the sweetest thing ever... i love my dog and she loves everybody in our neighborhood and is a very friendly dog... she would do anything to make sure i am safe along with every other person in the world... she is not dangerous and neither is any other pitt/ chow chow mix that i have ever met or came accross... she is our lion and teddy bear... she loves attention but we spoiled her...i have had my dog sinse i was 1 years old and would never change anything about her. we love her to death and will never let anything happen to my dog as long as i live.. again she is the sweetest, kindest, and most caring dog i have ever had.. i am 13 and she is 12... i love my dog to death and she has protected my brother and i before against her puppy because my brother and i were playing with it and it pushed him on the ground causing him to fall.. he was 3 at the time and so she thought that he hurt my brother... she is very very very smart andwhen she is scared she will do anything to find someone... she loves children and adults as long as she nows the adults are harmless and my family is okay with the adults being around my family..she is, and lways will be my favorite dog that i have and will ever have had because she was my first dog and because she is basically my sister....

so to answer your question,
No they are not dangerous unless u harm them... and they are also harmless unless you harm them...

she is the best dog i have and will ever heve and we love her to death!!

Re: Is mix of PIT BULL and CHOW CHOW a dangerous mix or not?
I have a pitbull/boxer/chow mix. His name is Loki, and he's about 6 or 7 months old. I got him from a friend whose pit/boxer had puppies. Dad was a chow down the street.

He's a very goofy dog. Has not even come close to getting violent aggressive since we've had him. He's currently at 50 lbs and lives with a small beagle, a 3 yr old cat, a 14 yr old miniature poodle, and 2 maltese. He's clumsy, playful, EXTREMELY energetic, and cuddly. He loves attention and being around people, he thinks he's a lap dog cuz i've cuddled and held him in my arms since birth (i assisted in birthing 6 of the 10 puppies, he was the 4th out). I'm actually waiting for him to START getting a little protective/aggressive; its practically non-existent. He'll get a little rough when playing, but it's expected. And he likes to lick the living hell out of people with little nibbles in the mix.

If you want pictures of him email me at LordDraxis1313@37.com or www.Facebook.com/BleedingEarth

btw, this is the first dog of this "Caliber" i've owned. and he is nothing but love.

I have a 4 yearold and my chow/pit is amazing with her!!!

i read that Pitbulls is a very instictive breed, and Chow Chow is pretty tough too. What kind of temperament would the mix of those breeds make, what do you think?

Yep...both have the potential to be tempermental.
Neither are good with kids.

I wouldn't own a mix of those two dogs...not with kids around at least.

I have experience with both breeds but not as a mix. Used to breed chows, all of them were great in their own way, smartest dog i ever owned was a full blooded female chow. Had a pit recently that i had to get rid of, believe he was inbred but beautiful with 1 blue eye. The chows i have seen and owned were wonderful with the family but hell on other dogs. Worst fight i have ever seen was 2 female chows, sisters and one eventually killed the other. Only dog that ever bit me was a pit but i still love them. I want one of these mixes!

I have a pitbull chow chow mix and I couldn't ask for a more gentle loving dog. He never barks growls or jumps. He's got a mean tongue though that seeks out faces. My beagle jack russell terrier mix on the other hand is a terror on 4 legs, bites everything she can. My pit/chow LOVES!!!! kids, after all pits were once called Nanny dogs. They were also WAR HEROS.

Re: Is mix of PIT BULL and CHOW CHOW a dangerous mix or not?
I have NEVER heard such ridiculous nonsense coming from a bunch of people who obviously NEVER had the experience of owning a pit/chow mix. They are NOT one person dogs, and to assume that they do not mix well with children is just absolute nonsense! Again and again I tell people that it is all about the love, care, attention, and environment for your pet; but is this not true of any animal breed? We had a pit/chow mix named Jenny, and she was the most loving creature I have ever had the pleasure of caring for. Any dog that is left unattended in the back yard has the potiental of getting out and causing harm. Is it because they are violent? Perhaps....perhaps not. If you're too lazy or too busy to train your pet correctly then you have no business owning one period! Get a fish if you're afraid that you don't have what it takes to raise a dog properly.

get educated. Bullys are not bad or evil dogs. It's the humans in control of them that are evil.
Love is a state of Being. Your love is not outside; it is deep within you. You can never lose it, and it cannot leave you. You can feel the same life deep within every other human and every other creature. You look beyond the veil of form and separation. This is the realization of oneness. This is love. What is God? The Eternal One Life underneath all the forms of life. What is love? To feel the presence of that One Life deep within yourself and within all creatures. To be it. Therefore, all love is the love of God.

Death is a stripping away of all that is not you. The secret of life is to die before you die - and find that there is no death.

I give you one word.

TREACHEROUS

Don't believe the mush brains who say its nurture.

Remember that it is in the Genes.
Over the years humans have concentrated certain traits in
their dogs for specific purposes.
And that they were very successful in their endevours.

There are some Veterinarians who will not even venture to treat these breeds.

Re: Is mix of PIT BULL and CHOW CHOW a dangerous mix or not?
I have a male pit bull/chow mix. As of this year he is 15 years old (believe it or not). I got him 11 years ago when he was 4 years old. He was actually going to be put down for his aggressiveness and I took him (he was my sister's dog and I really believed that he had the potential to be a great dog). He wasn't ever raised to be aggressive and infact from the time he was a itsy fur ball, just 2 or 3 mos old, my sister had got him and raised him w/my mother's German Shepard. Once he got older, he became aggressive and he snipped my sister when she was breaking up the dogs from fighting (yes, there was bloodshed from the dogs too). That was the straw that broke the camels back...so when I heard that they were going to put him down, I asked for him. The first 7 months were difficult, but I tell you...after he and I built a trust between one another. He is the best darn dog ever! He is loyal, he is good w/children, he is protective and leary of people at first, but has never bit or growled at anyone new (just once in the 11 years i have had him, a friend lunged at me joking around, and when he lunged at me, my dog jumped up on ME to keep me from him as he frantically barked at my friend. He sure scared my friend...I'm very well protected given that when people see him (not knowing him, they stand back). Those that know him, love him to death. I get compliments all the time on his demeanor. My mother and sister are grateful that I took him in...knowing him since I have taken him in proved that it's how you treat your animal. My sister and mother were very good to their animals. Well feed, groomed, kept in the house. I do all the same things...I think I just make him more of a priority - like a child. He gets more than enough attention everyday. I've never put fear into my dog to try to teach him. I calmly have raised my voice. But never hit him or scolded him constantly. He knew the first time, and he respected me enough not to do it again...which is when he went through the garbage can one day while I was at work..there was a meat package in there he must of sensed and just had to have it! LOL...
Anyway, if you treat this mix breed well and give it the respect that you expect and put the time in to build that relationship...You won't have any problems.

Considering that Chows have the lowest intelligence rating of the top 100 breeds...that particular mix would just be a stunned meat-grinder.

What the hell is a Dutchie?
why would you want a dog like that?

get a real dog... I just bought me a dutchie... heh heh now THAT's gonna be a real dog when I'm done with him.

this is the description to his mother.

Endor is an extreme dog in all areas. She is extremely high driven, very dominant, strong nerved serious dog. She is social to people and other dogs, however to the decoy she is uncompromising. Endor is at the highest level of dog you will find in any dog sport. He is also not a dog for an inexperienced handler. She is very, very handler hard. Endor's grips are hard and full, and all decoys who have worked her have commented on her brutal biting. Her hips and elbows are excellent.

and this is the father

Arko - KNPV PH1 Met Lof considered to be one of the top producing stud dogs for the KNPV program in Holland. Arko has drive, power, and courage like we have never seen in any dog and he passes these traits on to his offspring with amazing consistency.

Arko has perfect hips, back and elbows. He has a very dominant temperament, with natural aggression and is a very serious dog on and off the field. His frontal attacks are the fastest and most violent that you could imagine, his grips are punishing to the decoy, and his fight drive is extreme. He has won every hard hitting contest he has ever competed in, in the USA and in Holland! He also served as a working security dog in Holland where he hospitalized many suspects. He has an outstanding KNPV pedigree.
