Considering that Chows have the lowest intelligence rating of the top 100 breeds...that particular mix would just be a stunned meat-grinder.

wtf

Re: Is mix of PIT BULL and CHOW CHOW a dangerous mix or not?
why would you want a dog like that?

get a real dog... I just bought me a dutchie... heh heh now THAT's gonna be a real dog when I'm done with him.

this is the description to his mother.

Endor is an extreme dog in all areas. She is extremely high driven, very dominant, strong nerved serious dog. She is social to people and other dogs, however to the decoy she is uncompromising. Endor is at the highest level of dog you will find in any dog sport. He is also not a dog for an inexperienced handler. She is very, very handler hard. Endor's grips are hard and full, and all decoys who have worked her have commented on her brutal biting. Her hips and elbows are excellent.

and this is the father

Arko - KNPV PH1 Met Lof considered to be one of the top producing stud dogs for the KNPV program in Holland. Arko has drive, power, and courage like we have never seen in any dog and he passes these traits on to his offspring with amazing consistency.

Arko has perfect hips, back and elbows. He has a very dominant temperament, with natural aggression and is a very serious dog on and off the field. His frontal attacks are the fastest and most violent that you could imagine, his grips are punishing to the decoy, and his fight drive is extreme. He has won every hard hitting contest he has ever competed in, in the USA and in Holland! He also served as a working security dog in Holland where he hospitalized many suspects. He has an outstanding KNPV pedigree.

Not the best combination of dogs. They both are protective of their owners, especially chow's. Hope you're not trying to come up with a new breed.

Re: Is mix of PIT BULL and CHOW CHOW a dangerous mix or not?
Chows are the only dogs that are "supposed" to be an equal match with a pit when it comes down to fighting. I have two American PBT and have had them since they were 6 weeks old, they are now 11.5 years old. I also have three children and they are awesome dogs and great with my kids and any people. They are territorial, so if they see another dog walk by, they bark. They would love to catch a cat or squirrel, but that hasn't happened as of yet. They keep hoping though... ;) Please don't believe all the media hype about Pits. They only report the "big" attacks and half the time, its some kind of mutt combo and they call it a pit bull. When Pits attack, it is either because they were trained that way, neglected, have a bad temperament (any dog), or feel threatened. We recently had a news story were a pit bull was in its yard, fenced in, and properly posted dog signs and a 2 year old boy came by and poked the dog with a stick or stuck his hand in and the kid was bitten, but that was the parent's fault for not supervising the child. My pits are awesome with my little ones because pits also have high pain tolerance, so when they get a ear yanked, they've never barked or growled at my kids, let alone bite them. Try that with one of those little dogs that are all teeth! My cousin's chihuahua can't wait to bite my kids if harassed.

Give Pits a chance please!

I have a pit/chow mix named precious. great with people, kids and some other dogs, but some larger dogs cause her to be territorial.

You should have a lovely dog, one that enjoys attention and like any dog, it should be socialized and brought into contact with those who come to visit. You will not have a 'one man' dog that is total hogwash. Include the dog with your friends when they come to visit. lso if it is a puppy teach the dog that you can remove it's food at will and let it know that you will return it, do not tease but teach.

A mix pit bull is dangerous.

A Chow mix is dangerous.

Over many years, I've had two Chow mix dogs. They always eventually turn into agressors and you NEVER KNOW when they will bite. Once they are a couple years old, they get very dangerous.

THIS IS NOT A DANGEROUS MIX!!

At least in my case anyway.. I had a pit bull chow chow mix as a child and she wouldn't hurt a fly! Not to mention, she was super intelligent. I had her for 15 years and she was the sweetest dog I ever had.

Now I have a poodle shitzhu mix and this dog is way more aggressive and unintelligent than my pitt/chow mix.

You people are all freaks! No wonder there are so many biting and dangerous dogs. Pits are very, very aggresive instinctively towards other dogs. It's just a fact of life! I have seen 5 pit attacks and every single time the owner said "they've never done that before" and all were sweet dogs. I also saw a pit kill a poor older mans little dog in a matter of 2 minutes...unprovoked.
Chows are protective of owners but typically very sweet dogs and if socialized are fine with other dogs. I have a Chow mix that is very smart and LOVES other dogs. Chows will stand their ground though if challenged.

Re: Is mix of PIT BULL and CHOW CHOW a dangerous mix or not?
I've had several chow mix dogs. They were all very loyal, but territorial and aggresive to other dogs. They also were not very patient with small children even if they resided with them. I just got a cocker spaniel mix puppy. The owner thought he might be mixed with beagle. This puppy is the most aggressive dog I've ever owned and it's only 4 months old. He goes crazy if a stranger comes to the door and seems to not be afraid of anything. I'm trying to get him out it. I want be able to keep him he doesnt't calm down. So, it's sometimes hard to go by breeds. I thought a cocker would be a nonagressive dog. Guess not.

my best dogs ever were 4 sisters from the same litter of Chow/blue healer mix. We raised our 2 boys around them and they were outstanding bear and lion chasers. This was in the mtns. of Colorado. But, those dogs would not let a single other animal of any kind live near our house. Not a cow, sheep, goat, cat, chicken, nothing could survive with them around.

A mix like this will be fine
but know where the dog is every moment,
and he will be very protective of his family,
be it adults, kids, other dogs and cats.

Again, make sure you know where the dog is all the time.

Re: Is mix of PIT BULL and CHOW CHOW a dangerous mix or not?
I have a lab/chow mix. A very sweet dog that tries hard to please. Every now an then, especially when he was younger, that crazed chow look would come over him and he'd get aggressive--- at which point I'd put him in his cage for a "time out". Over time, when he would get that crazed chow look he would go and time himself out until he calmed down. I didn't have to tell him. He took it upon himself. (There's a few humans I know that could benefit from this dogs self regulation !! LOL)
