Is mix of PIT BULL and CHOW CHOW a dangerous mix or not?

I actually have a Pitt Bull / chow mix and she is a very sweet, obedient dog. She is a big baby and loves everyone and every other animal around her. Except for kittens, they actually scare her. lol

I have worked around both on hundreds of occasions. Pits by themselves are no big deal as long as the owners are neutral to loving people. Dogs take on the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of their owners.

Chows on the other hand tend to be one person dogs that are fairly protective to the point of being dangerous.

A mix between the two could go either way depending on genetics, and your own self programing.

I owned a beautiful chow & it all depends on how you raise it.
He was the most lovable,mellow dog I owned..he was protective of the whole family,including my brothers 2 yr. old daughter at the time. He didn't much care for strangers, though..But, once he knew that the person was harmless to us, he'd chill.

had a chow once. dumbest dog i've ever seen. barker too. put a bark collar on her to quiet her down. i wound up having to take it off cause she couldn't figure out what was biting her and wouldn't quit screaming. took me 10 minutes to get her calmed down enough to get the collar off. dumb as a cardboard box.

i have a pitbull chow mix who is 4 years old. She is the most loving affectionate dog to people and other animals. would i say they're dangerous...? Absolutely NOT! Its all in how you raise them.

There is nothing wrong with having a aggressive dog. But the owners need to deal with that in a positive manner. If not, the owners should be shot.

I've had two female pit chows I raised from puppies and a stripped male pit bull already grown. He was just plain ignorant, although he never hurt people, babies included. He would kill anything else. The bigger pit chow had 30 puppies along the way, but her littlier sister had none. The lillier sister died about a year ago. The male was killed by a neighbors younger pit bull. Maybe it's strange, but I've taught the remaining dog not to kill, and resently I found a baby kitten which she let lay on her. Maybe motherly instinct. Little dogs squeeze through our gate and she allows them to come and go. One time she even ran to me with a little dog chasing her. She once had a poddle in her mouth in the air, and I hollered dror it and she did and ran to me. Her name because of her size is Big Mama, her sister Lil Bit, the male Chief. Yes you can train them but, you must start early, very early.

Anyhoo, chows are like the anti-dog. They are very aloof.

They do not seem to bond properly IMO. Not that they are nasty necessarily, just very aloof for a dog.

i have a blue pit bull & chow mix. She is a family dog. i have 3 young children (boys ages 2,3,&5) she is the BEST dog. protective but not overly. She sleeps with them, loves on them, & plays so well. I would get another one in a a heart beat.

I have a chow-chow mix with a pit she is the neighborhood dog everyone knows her and loves her. she gets along with the kids in the neighborhood, they come and play with her all the time. she's my little sweet little diva. she's beautiful in every since of the word. a dog being mean or nice depends on how you raise them. if your dog spend more time in the yard then indoors socializing with human or other animal then you are bound to get a vicious dog it doesn't matter what breed it is. luv ur pet as u would a child.

I have a chow pitbull mix and she is the sweetest dog in the world. She is less surly than my basset hound. She is very gentle with kids, very outgoing with people. She thinks everyone wants to be her friend and this scares them as she jumps. She is very good with other dogs. She is also very obedient, apart from jumping. I was very nervous when I got her, but I socialize her a lot at dog parks and take her everywhere with me on my days off. I hope this helps!

I had this breed of dog, just lost him three nights ago to cancer. Best dog in the world. More friendly than my lab mix, never bit anyone, did not like to rough house, loved giving kisses, was a total snuggler, loved food, loved kids, loved strangers (not a good guard dog). I wish I could get another one just like him. He was the greatest dog ever and I will miss him dearly. Had him, my lab mix and two cats and never a single issue.

Sounds like the most sketched-out mix ever. I would never own one.

A Chow Chow is classically known to be the dumbest dog there is.

Honestly, anybody saying that Pit bulls are dangerous get out of here, they are great with kids, all they want is to be loved and to please their owners. When bred improperly or raised incorrectly any dog/animal can be dangerous. I just happen to have a Chow/Pitt mix. I also have a pure breed red nose colby pit bull along with a puggle and a polmeranian. They are all great together. The only clashing is between the pure breed pitt and the polmeranian and guess who kicks whos ass in that situation..yeaa..the polm comes out on top compared to the 65 lb "vicious creature" as you who are not educated about the breed refer to them ass. My Chow/pitt mix is the most loyal, loving dog I have ever met/owned. Pit bulls are very smart and just need to be raised properly. I love my dogs. All 4 of them act as if they were from the same mother, same litter when my Chow/pit mix is 12 years old, my polm is 8, the puggle is a year old and my red nose is 6 months old. I was raised around pits, i have worked with pits for years. Do some research, try owning one of these animals before you fucking losers hate on them. There is no dog that can compare to the pit bull. There are more recorded dog attacks from labs then there are pit bulls every year. Look it up, Out of all dog attacks every year pit bulls are 4th on the list..4th from the bottom that is. If you raise the dog correctly and give them all they need they are both great breeds. Pit bulls are awesome with children of any age, they are the original family dog. Chows are not as compatible with children and other animals but my big guy is a sweetheart to everybody.

I have a pitbull chow mix. She is very loving, but a little hyper. I believe if you train your dog to be sweet, he/she will. Unless it has a bad background. And she is also very flabby :)

That depends on you the owner! Pit bulls are nice dogs, and very friendly but its up to you weather or not the dog becomes mean. Chows are nice to but there again it's up to you! Socialize you dog when he or she is a puppy. Take your puppy places, take you puppy around lots of people and other dogs and it's best to do this while your puppy is very young. Start as soon as you can. But teach your puppy how to sit and lie down. Your puppy must be potty trained before you enroll in a beginner puppy class at petco or petsmart. Do that at about 16 weeks or 4 months, The classes are about 10 weeks long once a week. And you can pick the day that you want to attend and the time also. But unless your a complete dummy dont waste your money past the puppy class. My German Shepherd (GSD) was smarter then most of the dogs in the advanced class at 16 weeks. The puppy class I enrolled him in was just for socialization and that was it. There was nothing they could teach me period. And another good idea is buy one of Cesar Milians books and have a read. And whatever you do DON'T HIT YOUR PUPPY. Mono tone all the time when scolding.
And get really tasty treats for your puppy! Your puppy will learn really fast that way. Get chicken strips made in the U.S.A not China

German Shepherd (GSD) Wicked smart! Which have lots of dog bite attacks but only from stupid owners that have improperly trained dogs! But I do like American Pits though!

I agree I have a rescue pit/chow mix since he was 2 months out and then he had three pups. They are a hand full but what dog is not. As long as you take good care of them right they will be good.
