Is mix of PIT BULL and CHOW CHOW a dangerous mix or not?

The dog will be fine it all matters on how you raise it, I have a Pit mix with a chow I call it the Pichow but anyways Pichow are protected dogs and good with kids, real good guard dogs, and loves attention. Pichow need to be house broke in while a puppy cause if not it will use your house for a bathroom. Start training your PiChow we it hit 5 months or early if you want. I consider this dog to be the best dog that I ever had only problem is that it does not like other dogs with the same sex and dogs it does know but you could get out of them......#Best Pet Ever****

Stupid people that don't know about dogs All dogs can be made dangerous. They are no more dangerous than any other dog breed both have good temperaments when brought up right. Humans are the dangerous breed that spread rumors that others believe.

My OLD pitt/sharpei is one of the most loyal dogs on earth! He is not good with strangers nor family members but he takes care of this 67 year old widow lady. I live way out with no neighbors and he is worth his weight in gold. We brought him home in a crate and it took me 5 months to touch him and about a year to pet him. WAS HE WORTH IT? A B S O L U T E L Y!!! This dog would never make a family dog but I got him as a 2 year old 11 years ago. He was dumped in a rural area and lived in a pasture with cows until a man finally befriended and captured him. Then we drove over 100 miles and acquired an awesome dog. Would I want another? You bet! (PS: I have 14 grandkids and 7 great grandkids and none have ever been bitten. It's all about being a vigilant responsible dog owner.)

in november im getting a blue pitt chow puppy i agree with everyone its all on how you raise them all these people who have said rude nasty things thats your personal opinions in the past ive had wolves mixed with blue pitt excellent dog named him shadow he would lick you to death ive had bullmastiffs mixed with german sheperds she was a brindle named rio awsome great with everyone at 5 months she was 120 puonds she thought she was a lap dog and she could shake with both hands so my personal opinion all dogs are great just treat them right and you have a best friend for life take your time to train them[googlevid]

I have one and he's awesome. His name is Buck. Loyal, very intelligent and almost human like in many ways. One of the best dogs I've ever owned. He was a rescue and a survivor of parvo. He is a character....can't imagine life without him.

there's one male dog who always tries to court my old female lab when they meet, the old lady would not have any of it ... rather large, moloss type broad head, non aggressive but confident ... just heard he is a staff - Caucasian Shepherd mix ...


I couldnt't believe my ears, first of all, staffs are like small pit bulls, and I wonder how the size difference would have allowed the mating. So maybe it was a pitbull or amstaff?

The dog was originally kept by a biker club, and it kind of figures that it would occur to a biker to cross a pit bull and Caucasian Shepherd to get a super scary dog ... but he's not, he's laid back.


Now there are puppies coming - staff(or pit)*caucasian father, German shepherd*Rottweiler mother ... I'm intrigued and thinking about getting one. Is that wise?

Well, my half chow, half pit just died at the age of 17 1/2. He came to our home a puppy and was our family dog while we raised our 3 children. He was very good with the kids. They use to ride him like a pony, and he let them. When he was young he did not like other big dogs coming into his territory. He protected our home, just because people were afraid of his size. I don't know why people say it's a bad mix. It's how you train and raise your dog, and that makes the difference. Our family is very sad that our beloved Bear died. He was part of our family.

I think you'd get a similar result as you did by sleeping with your sister but I couldn't swear to it

I have a pit chow mix he loves every one loves other dogs to u just have to bring them around ppl and show them that ur the boss and train them and ull have no problems and he's a really smart dog he knows how to sit lay down give both paws and roll over and he's only 5 months old

I had a chow pit mix and he was my best friend. Yes he came with a lot of trouble and stress but he was worth every minute of it. He will be your dog though and you need to keep him or her under control. It is a BIG responsibility!!! They are going to be there for you through thick or thin!!

hey, i have a pitbull chow mixed dog. she is 16 years old and is great with kids and people. she just doesn't like other animals. because once years ago we gave her away to this woman who went to jail there after. the people staying with her abused my dog. we went and rescued her. since that time with them and the abuse she just hasn't been the same. she is smart and sweet and not all dogs are born vicious, mine wasn't. she protects us and our four month old baby. she's 16 and still plays as if she were a month or so old. it isn't a bad mix its what and who handles that mix that determines where the mix's mentality will end up. depends on the owner. i have to still rehabilitate her from her trama's and she's getting sweeter by the day. i understand your point of view, and respect it and i hope you do the same for me. thankyou for taking the time outa your day to read this.

I have a pitchow 4 months old an is a hand full loves to play an stuck to my hip. I can't leave with out him crying. He is very loveable to my kids an we r working extra hard with him around other dogs a an people.

if I told you what my last female acquaintance did to me, you'd understand why I fantasize what would result from mating a pit bull with her.

You should have limited the answers to people that have them. Not people that just want to be heard without knowing what get can actually be like.
I've had two chow pits and they were and are the best dogs I've ever had. Smart loyal and protective when they should be. Someone broke into my house one day, my chow pit bit her once lightly to scare her then ran her off the property, stayed home even though the door was open.
The most vicious dog I've ever seen was a golden retriever, raise them right and you'll have a great friend, treat them wrong and even a super friendly golden will try to kill everything. That golden was put down for attacking a group of kids at bus stop.

Anyone who thinks just b/c of the breed that automatically makes them agressive/stupid/mean...u have obviously never owned one. I have a pit/chow mix 3 to be exact. My dogs are not mean and they have been fully trained as guard dogs and one is a personal protection dog. Do they bark when someone is outside the fence absolutely, am I worried that someone would dare come in my house absolutely NOT.
You cannot simply label a dog as mean or agressive just b/c of the breed, my little sister has a little rat dog thing that is aggressive.
Like I said I have 3 of these so called 'mean'. My smallest weighs 55lbs the biggest weighs 103lbs, my niece is at my house a lot and I have NEVER worried about my dogs being around her. She rides the biggest one, his name is Kilo, like he is a horse. He lays with her while she is sleeping...watching over her to make sure that nothing happens to her. kilos daughter, Agony, weighed 89 lbs the last time she was at the vets. When my niece is around Agony protects her as if she was hers. There is nothing my niece can't do to her (biting, slapping, laying on, etc), she has never once snapped growled or even showed signs of being annoyed by her.
My dogs are loving and kind. Do they do the job they were intended for, you're damn right. But they are friendly by all means.
So for anyone who really thinks this particular mix breed of dogs is agressive, only shows how close minded and stupid you really are. Shows hOw Even With Dogs Stereotypes Still play a huge role with ignorant people.
Remember, ANY dog can be mean and agressive. Its not the breed they are that makes them agressive, it's how they were raised and treated.

I have a pit/chow mix but she looks mostly pit. You can only tell she has chow in her by the black spots on her tongue. She does not like cats but she loves KIDS! She has NEVER hurt anyone, even when she digs out of our backyard ( almost on a daily basis) she still does not harm anyone or anything but the cats. So I don't know why this mixed breed or even full pits and chows get bad names. It makes me sick. It is all in proper training, but sadly some people don't want to take the time to train them because either they are lazy or don't have time and want to blame the dog when things go bad. It's not the dog's fault but the PERSON'S fault!

It's been my experience that both breeds have the potential to attack humans with little or no provocation. That being said, any dog which is properly socialized and not abused can also be a perfect pet.

First of all,I unfortunately stumbled across this forum for an unrelated question concerning my pitbull/chow puppy and none of you should own dogs if these are your views about dogs(except one,you know who you are and thanks for not being completely stupid). I've never in my life met anybody like any of you. Judging a dog because its a dog is part of the serious overpopulation and high kill rate of ALL BREEDS AND MIXES. The lab/retriever breeds have the highest bite/attack rate of all breeds,jaw strength has nothing to do with anything. I know this because I'm an informed human being and dog owner. Forums are not the place to find answers to your questions especially about such an important issue and breed information,secondly if you are the kind of person who has to ask a question so ridiculous as if a certain breed or mix is dangerous or not you don't have the basic skills or knowledge to own a dog of any kind. Rule #1 and only - people are the ONLY risk when it comes to dog safety. I've never seen any of my many dogs as breeds,only puppies/dogs and train them,some need more work in certain areas simply bc they are individuals as are each and every lab,great dane,pitbull,chow,or mutt. You will be a danger to society if you choose to adopt/purchase/rescue or otherwise own a dog. Forums like this make me seriously concerned and completely disgusted.

pit bulls are good dogs if brought up in a good environment, they get a bad wrap because of the bad owners, ive found them to be very good dogs, intelligent and loving
