Fire Marshall ARRESTS woman in TX for saying "Fuck" in the mall

I'm sick of people walking around yelling vulgarities at the top of their lungs with no consideration for young children or the elderly who are within hearing distance of their offensive language.

Fuck is just a word. It's only bad in YOUR mind. Don't force your attitudes on other people.

How is stating my opinion "forcing" my attitude on anyone else? It's an opinion...and I'm entitled to it. If you don't like it...that's your option. I could care less.

Cussing, or burning the flag is part of freedom of choice.

Hurting someone intentionally or controlling their freedom of choice is interference.

If you don't believe in freedom of choice for all, you do not understand the basic premise of America and the constitution.

If you don't give freedonm of choice to those with whom you have a philosophical disagreement, or whom you hate, you don't believe in fredom of choice. Then you believe in dictatorship with yourself as the one who makes the rules, haphazardly or inconsistently, however you decide.

The time when freedom of choice becomes interference is when force is used over others where there has been no common law damage, namely no injury to person or property.

The Fire Marshall overstepped his authority as the lady who cussed did no damage under the common law.

Unreal... it wasn't a mall, it was in a Wall•Mart and the guy was a fire marshal.

A simple case of a self-righteous asshole believing he had the power to "control" what people around him are doing or saying. He should be thrown in jail for wrongful arrest, harassment and abuse of authority.

People shouldn't use foul language in public places.

It's offensive and reflects poorly on the speaker. That woman belongs in a bar or a street corner if she wants to talk like that!

You can't yell "FIRE" in a crowded movie theater either. There's just some things you can't do with impunity in this society and people need to be taught that. It seems like respect and responsibility have been eviscerated from our social climate and everything is now vulgar and in your face rude. While we're at it, can I get that fire marshall to arrest the people who put Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra commercials on TV at 6pm when my young kids are watching TV with the family? <GRRRRRR!>

Believe it or not, in Texas the Fire Marshall is a sworn peace officer and has the right to ticket and arrest as part of his job. He's not the pig here - the woman freely using vulgar language in front of kids is the pig. Furthermore, if her mother was with her, SHE should have been ticketed for being a lousy mother and not teaching better standards of conduct to her own kids.

Malls are private property, they can do whatever the FUCK they want, from banning juveniles to throwing people out for wearing anti-war t-shirts. The latter happened in Albany (actually Guilderland) NY. It's old news, so I probably can't post a link without paying our local media restrictor newspaper, the Times Useless.

I have told people to watch their language in front of kids,
I have used that language (sorry x-army) and more. But she did not cause a “Distrubance” until the sorry FD marshal confronted her and pushed the issue.

It's your choice folks, a rule for every petty prejudice that everyone has, or freedom to choose.

If you're going to saddle me with your rules, would you agree that I should be able to tell you what you cannot say when I'm near you as it might offend me? And anything that anyone says that tries to stop people from exercising their basic freedom of speech offends me. (I'm not talking about yelling "fire" when none exists, or slander or libel. These are extreme cases.)

This is my rule. Would it be fair for you to be arrested for breaking my rule?

The constitution is the basic rule book for America. If you don't agree with it, there are ways to change it.

Saying "fucking" in public does not violate the constitution.

The Fire Marshall was not a private security guard working for the mall. If the mall has rules against cussing, it can do so. But they have no right to arrest someone who cusses, all they can do is ask the cusser to leave the property.

Using foul langage in public is considered "disorderly conduct" and you can be arrested for it.

I dunno why a "fire marshall" would be involved though.

Answer no, so why do you care when its in English, its because you are linguistically programed to take offense, because you have been told its a naughty word.

Its just a word, if somebody uses the word FUCK every sentence, that just reflects poorly on their vocabulary, but making a word taboo, thats just ridiculous.

This is just another example of corporate censorship. Just as Wal Mart can decide to remove certain products from it's shelves, it can apparently dictate to you your conduct while on their premises.

These big box retailers make it their business to destroy old fashioned communities when they pull shoppers out of the public spaces of towns and cities to privately owned retail parks. There, they can dictate not only what you should and should not be interested in buying, but also the way in which you conduct yourself.

Herein lies the problem, one thing one person finds offensive, is not offensive to another, you cant accommodate for everyone.

Culturally there are many differences, i think people should educate themselves and act accordingly, but the notion that language is a thing to be controlled is straight out Orwellian.
