I have seen a person "shape shift". Never believed in any "supernatural" nonsense or for that matter... God. Even after having seen an "event" it is still difficult to accept. No I don't think demons in the sense that you speak, are real. I believe all the "demons" people have are relevant to personal psyche. Goetic, ritual, and ceremonial arts serve as an allegorical tool few really penetrate and understand the intent of. But for the masses they serve as a fantasy and will forever continue to do so.

But if you want to believe that things are so cut and dry, then check out Ramtha. That ridiculous lady has managed to pull the wool over many peoples eyes.
