Its too late to turn back now, and I cannot see Russia being able to engage NATO in a conventional war, so this will probably go nuclear if it blows up. It seems to me this has gone way beyond sabre rattling.
Kennedy almost went to war over the same thing when the Russians did this to us in Cuba, why should Russia react differently to 'our' aggressive provocations?
You should all be preparing now for the possibility of strategic nuclear war. I mean NOW. Russia does not have the conventional forces to resist a NATO attack.
I am in an area that will be laid waste in the event of such an exchange, Barkesdale airforce base is 45 miles to the SE and Red River army depot is 15 miles to the north.

Well if it means war....then its war. Now you guys have to understand. WW3 doesnt mean dooms day. They thought the same during WW2. Personally, I think war is eminent and I dont think it will be a bad thing.
The reason we need this shield is because of Russias new rocket. I dont remember what its called but someone here posted about it. It is the fastest thing on earth. The worlds only deterrent is to nail it as it takes off.
So, If Russia is set to go to war because we are trying to protect the world from possible total destruction...then so be it.
i agree. something has changed here. one or both sides now believe they can take the other side out without major loss themselves.

Cuba was in receipt of nuclear capable missiles, they were being deployed. Launch facilities were built.
The Polish anti-ICBM thing is years away from completion.

preemptive strikes are the same right the US reserves for itself so nothing's really changed other than a statement of the obvious- the Russians view the missile defense system as directed against them and will respond accordingly.
Diplomatically, something fishy is going on. Why would the US announce the deal at a time when the Russians are pissed off and just demonstrated that US allies may be left to the tender mercies of Moscow?

Besides, we're talking first strike.
If the US military is fortunate and survives a first strike then it is launching an effective second strike and the military is preparing for extended combat.
If not, then the troops overseas are preparing to surrender in place because their supplies are cut off while troops in the US who survived the first strike are preparing to carry out whatever orders they get or preparing to go home if not in good order.
Maybe they are taking advantage of the domestic power vacuum with NORTHCOM federalizing the Guard, calling up the remaining reserves and declaring martial law for the good of the country.

I'm not sure it's the Russians who are being baited though that would take a level of political subtlety that the US is not known for.
If the US is goading Russia into war, we'll know soon enough but I wouldn't be shocked if the US is trying to tempt any one of a number of non-Russian actors into something under the notion that the US and Russia are occupied with each other.
All warfare is based on deception.

Here's my take on what Russia would do, hell it's what I would do...
Send Iran all sorts of goodies.
Send Syria all sorts of goodies.
Send Iraqi resistance all sorts of goodies.
I would just fight the U.S. through middle east proxy, and make sure that the middle east American opposition is armed to the teeth.
Even support opposition groups in Jordon and Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.
Get those governments too.
I would surround Israel with so much gunpowder that she'd be afraid to sneeze...If Israel was really in fear they would reign in the Americans.
At the very least this thing in Poland is going to get a lot of people dead in Iraq for sure. |

i don't think you can apply the sabre rattling cliche' to this one. they do not have the american mindset, and you do not understand their culture. he means business.
But why incinerate billions of people and know your own country would be wiped out in something like this?
