On DNC Denver & Conspiracy Theories in General
Having read a thread on conspiracy theorists here, I decided to put my two bits in on my own.

If there are not real conspiracies then why are there laws criminalizing those who conspire to defraud, conspire to commit murder, etc.? Why are people conspiring to do awful deeds sometimes actually arrested for their conspiracies (Nixon and the Watergate conspirators represent only one example)?

In Denver not so long ago, the city government said that those who claimed the city was constructing a detention center to haul protesters to and cage them in during the DNC were just "conspiracy theorists." Yet, what is so fondly called "Gitmo on the Platte" is quite real. (It was tasteful of the city to take down the razor wire around the cages for the media tour. Wonder if it has been reinstalled now?)

Those "conspiracy theorists" simply glommed onto information that was intended to remain secret by, in this case, the real conspirators: Denver city government. Yet, it was the conspiracy theorists who were made out to be crazy and evil. Who was though, really?

Now the city calls it a "processing center" that is better than the Denver jail. Ya' think? There are signs posted in the "processing center" that electronic devices will be used shown on the news. (Don't taser me, bro!!) So, if it is not a detention center, then the, "inmates"? "guests"? are free to leave whenever they want, yes? If not, then spin it how you want, it is a detention facility. By the by, the news video of our little own Gitmo on the Platte showed cages like those said to be under DIA - of course, that really is just another consipracy theory at this point. In any case, the cages look fit for dogs, maybe; I wouldn't put mine in one of them. The city says the arrestees will have access to water and restrooms. I am curious how cooperative the police will be in that regard. Well, there's always the concrete floor, I guess - doggy style. Someone should pay attention to the tales that will probably come out of there.

I have followed various conspiracy theories in general since I was in high school (in another age and galaxy, it now seems). Sure, some of the people who qualify as conspiracy theorists are mentally unstableS; however, many who don't are also mentally unstable, so that's a null disqualifier. Since it is documented in the mainstream that a consistent trait of successful corporate executives is sociopathy, I am not sure mental pathology is, by itself, a disqualifier for credibility (research it for yourself as I did; I don't have time to look it up all over again and spoonfeed; i.e., no linky provided). Other conspiracy theorists are quite mentally sound, if sometimes a bit bombastic in their fervor. Others just quietly hunt for and sift the information, and wait and see.

The biggest difference between conspiracy theorists and others, that I have observed, is that they are willing and able to look around the corners, beyond the borders, of information. They are able to piece together seemingly disparate bits of information, often compartmentalized just to prevent someone putting some of the puzzle-at-hand together; I auppose some of that conpartmentalization is inadvertent, as well. And always, ALWAYS, it is the very conspirators themselves who cry "crazy conspiracy theorists"; and it is the unthinking, socially hypnotized majority who join in the hew-and-cry and never think to discern for themselves.

It's not so much a matter of intelligence, sanity or education, as it is of successful, social conditioning. Most are. Then there are a few who, likely through personal experiences and an innately independent way of thinking, are candidates for being able to perceive such informational patterns. A warning to the ever-present BS flaggers: If you fly your flags on this one, you will simply identify yourselves as being properly conditioned socially; you may bleat now.

Over the course of more than forty years, some things have become apparent. Many conspiracy theories fall by the wayside. Yet, many conspiracy theories have come to pass in some form or other, some exactly as theorized. Some are materializing pretty much as theorized in our current time; and some, well, time will tell. If anything it seems that there is some expectation that that a conspiracy theory must be quickly proven to be so, or it is just another crazy idea set forth by crazy people. That is the social chorus, anyway.

Of course, when a powerful force intends to radically, perhaps quickly, change the nature of a society, conspiracy theorists are an inconvenience, because a few others will start checking those theories out and might find some merit in them. That's a problem. Those same powerful forces of change also want to get rid of older, as well as the well-educated, people, because they remember other times and other ways when society was different. This always pertains to societies that are becoming closed and oppressed by design. General dissenters, even when they abide by lawful and proper methods of protest, are pretty easily managed by law enforcement and other security means, as well as by information tailoring through the media. Severe enough personal costs will make most of them go away; the remainder become prey on the societal hunting preserve.

Activities in the city of Denver running up to the DNC bring all of this to mind - and postings on that other thread.

This week in Denver will be interesting, I suspect. I hope not too interesting. I really like peacefulness and am glad to not be involved in any way.

Processing center... as in meat? Soylent Denver?
Read - for thy sustainer is the most bountiful one, who has taught the use of the pen, taught man what he did not know!
Nay verily man becomes grossly overweening, whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: for behold unto thy sustainer all must return.
