CURRENT - OFFICIAL
Gustav has is now at 3mph in forward motion. This is far slower and if it is not North of Jamaica by Thursday we will have to start thinking this will not even hit the Gulf Of Mexico.
For now we will go with the slower motion and if it speeds up on path it will curve on up and pull Fay's track, however maybe a bit more toward Tampa Bay this time. Right now it is tough because Gustav is not moving much. It seems to not be in any type of steering current right now and this is throwing forecasts off.

Towards Mexico and now you are saying towards Florida? :) Next thing it will be towards Antarctica!!! |

Glad to know GLP has its own Meteorologist.
Already prepared. Got prepared with Fay. Work is slow so I'm more prepared than ever.
Good luck GLP people of the Gulf states.
We've got another day or two window to get a better idea. |

Kevin..or someone with more expertise than me can intepret the following link..
When I look at this link, it appears that it either is straight over to MX penisula, OR, if strong enough to come thru the shoot, then the steering flow looks like a free pass staight to Tampa Bay area of Florida? There is a completely clear path to Florida? TX and LA seem to have protection forming?

Kevin, in regards to my post above from this morning, it seems to be in line with what you are saying about Fay now..is looks like an open invite to Tampa Bay..I hope not so..but it has to go somewhere : ( |

Video updates by retired NASA meteorologist, he designed NASA's current weather forecast tech. Dr. Neil Frank, the world's foremost Hurricane forecaster will come on to the scene probably when it gets half way across the Gulf.
Current possible tracks as shown on the 6 pm news put the majority of tracks at this time into the Texas coast, with other models moving it into the mid Gulf coast land mass.
Time will tell. Hurricanes seem to have a mind of their own. It's about to hit the Jamaican trench, deep water, ripe for strethening. Once into the Gulf, the deep warm water current loop will be a factor. Sheer is not considered a factor at this time.
You guys might want to take a look at the soup being stirred up in the Caribbean. More counter clock wise areas forming up.

I've seen the lastest TRACKS for this cane. They have like 16 possible tracks DEPENDING.. Way to early and going way to slow to tell. This thread should last at least 10 days !!! |

We've had a beautiful sunset in Houston. But the sky is weird. We have curved ripples, motion from the SE. |
