yea a cat 3-4 just pounding the same areas for days on end, there would be nothing left afterward. trees can handle a few hours of pounding but not long durations of pounding, same with all stuctures, eventualy they begin to fail under the constant stress. |

Many Hurricanes following a similar route have a tendency to pull northward once they get in the middle of the gulf.
Still too early to say where this one will go for sure. |

Update from KHOU, Houston. Our NASA meteorologist called the NHC. The NHC, National Hurricane Center, says they cannot predict the path of the storm at this time. Between the High they expect to move back into the north eastern Gulf, and the cool front moving towards Texas, they are calling a tug of war.
They have not seen the weakening they hoped for over Jamaica
The High may also push Hannah south and west of current track.
They hope to have a better idea this weekend about Gustav. |

I am in tampa fla. I have a weather station set up on batteries. when fay passed us twice, the strongest wind gust was 22 mph and I recieved 1.5 inches of rain. I can keep ya up to date local while I have power.....

Just thought i would throw this info in,Just east of Dallas area they been laying trails and started around 3pm today.
Sometimes we get lots of rain and other times the trails dry everything up so cant really say what they are doing this for.
Havnt seen them out spraying for a while so i took notice of it,maybe they are trying the old dry the atmos out and build a high over us this time due ta the cane that might be coming ta Texas.
Anyone else seeing any trails today? |

Thanks for that map. I'm in Houston, and here's the weird part. I'm wearing yellow, and the track closest to Houston is yellow.
Thursday morning , the weather guy on at 5 am who usually does a quick forecast every 10 minutes or so, did a long segment. He was very serious, not scary, just serious. He got about a 10 minute segment outlining evac routes, storm surge areas, who should evac first.
He didn't go so far as to say it was coming in, but it was the attitude that held my attention. |
