The guy on cnn just mentioned a site where you can hear the pilots/towers communications streaming...did anyone catch that? I bet some GLPrs would like to listen...

I wasn't watching, but did bookmark the following a few days ago:

Thanks! That's the site he mentioned.

They keep saying everything is fine. Om...I don't get this. Only flights on the ground are being affected because they can't fly out? How would it NOT affect the planes in the air as well? Does anyone have an answer to that? (Just looking for input as I don't really understand how the FAA computer stuff is working)

Soon we'll hear there are some goatherds, running amok with screwdrivers, who forgot their IT manuals in rental cars parked in the FAA parking lot. Photos and names breaking shortly thereafter.

Expert interviewed on CNN just indicated that the FAA's computer system is "basically held together with bailing wire and paperclips. It's sort of in need of a major modernization or upgrade."

LOL!!!

Does anyone know if this is limited to large commercial or is this a problem for military and smaller private flights?

They have to freakin let them land. The planes are running on less fuel than normal to save gas...they cant let them fall out of the sky.

I said this earlier in the other FAA thread:

"The West condemns Russia over it's decision to recognise the independence of 2 breakaway regions of Georgia, and a few hours later the FAA computers are down in Georgia, USA.... is this a subversive message being sent by someone?"

Yeah, a cyber attack, sure... do you actually think the vital radar and communication functions are linked to the outside (www)?
It's like saying your TV set and DVD player are not working because someone hacked your computer. :)

Good call. Good connection between the story about the "independence declaration" and this event!

Seems rather obvious huh?

I'm on a roof outside of Boston. Nothing but blue sky and chemtrails overhead. No signs of any planes circling. Very quiet. Where I am is where commercial jets line up for Logan. Stay tuned......,

Doesn't really seem like that big of deal. Plans in the air still have their flight plans. Plans on the ground are just taking a little longer to get their flight plans and that is why there are delays. Plans in the air can still land as well, don't see how they wouldn't be able to.
