*chuckle*
Something tells me that Omega is sitting high and dry and even in such circumstances, he'll be just fine...no matter how dire the situation.

That article is from Tuesday, Mopar.
They are evacuating that area on Friday.
They have already begun going door to door as of today. |

The governor has made arrangement to take those without transportation out of the city and to shelters.
Sorry they did that to you guys. Houston did more than their fair share.
We hope you don't judge everyone from here based on what those from the inner city did during and after Katrina. Those thugs and the ones with their hands out represent only a small fraction of the metro area. |

Well, it appears our African-American friends have found yet something
else to be pissed about. A black congresswoman (this would be Sheila
Jackson Lee, of Houston ), reportedly complained that the names of
hurricanes are all Caucasian sounding names.
She would prefer some names that reflect African-American culture such
as Chamiqua, Tanisha, Woeisha, Shaqueal, and Jamal. I am NOT making this
up!
She would also like the weather reports to be broadcast in 'language'
that street people can understand because one of the problems that
happened in New Orleans was, that black people couldn't understand the
seriousness of the situation, due to the racially biased language of the
weather report.
I guess if the weather person says that the winds are going to blow at
140+ MPH, thats too hard to understand
I can hear it now: A weatherman in New Orleans says...

Nahhh...it just got a little cloudy late this p.m.
It's not from the storm, he's still too far away.
It's just a typical p.m. summer shower. But thanks for the concern. |

That's what seems to be happening...
I certainly hope not!
Take care folks!
Be wise, be well ,be safe...
Looks like the Hurricane Center is hinting at a direct hit on New Orleans.
See graph here: [ link to www.nhc.noaa.gov]
At this hour, they the national hurricane center has the storm coming at the mouth of the Mississippi River, which would be the ABSOLUTE worse case scenario that could happen. Hopefully, it will shift some and either direction will do.
Actually, a morgan city hit would be the worst for the city, putting the wet side over New orleans.
Either would be bad.
FOr many many years they have always feared a large storm coming from the mouth of the river.
That surge would push the water well over the main levees and into the entire city, both east and west bank.
When a storm hits from one direction or another...it will affect only certain areas of the city (as for water/flooding)
Such as for Katrina, because she traveled to the east of the city water was forced to the more easterly areas of the city. that's why the west bank was spared from major water damage. Quoting: Beingsouthern |

And so it begins......
The Traffic.... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 467878
Not just traffic, The Evacuation Traffic, serious sense of impending doom.
Your car stalls or runs out of gas, you get pushed into a ditch, to die (of exhaust fumes). |

It still bothers me that there was a mandatory evacuation and these people chose to stay. Then when they get hit right between the eyes, they stand there saying "we need help." "Why doesn't anyone help us?"
Dumb mother fuckers, you were told to get the fuck out of there so you would not get hit right between the eyes. You chose to stay, so fuck you. They don't deserve a nickel from the government. |
