Captains and the Kings by Taylor Caldwell

I am totally astonished that no one here has mentioned this book! It is classified fiction but tells a real story of the power behind the powers. Caldwell had a devil of a time getting it published and researching the references tells why.

Anyone interested in knowing about NWO and its roots should check out this excellent tale... AND the bibliography!

Interesting timeline anomaly... I could SWEAR I read this book for the first time in '71 or '72... then again in '77 when I actually took the time to read the referenced materials... Now, I see it listed as Published in 1976... WTF?

YES YES YES. and i have the same timeline difficulty with this one. i remember reading it when i was 12 0r 13 and i graduated high school in 1975. i am so relieved to hear someone else is aware of this anomaly as it has puzzled me for years. after reading it i felt like the proverbial scales fell from my eyes.

After reading the titles of the books that have CHANGED THE COURSE OF YOUR LIFE [Dracula, The Cat In The Hat]?, I'm really not surprised at some of the things I read in the threads here at GLP.

non-fiction: Voyagers II by Ashayana Deane

A cliff notes version of the true history of the human race. (she said, tongue in cheek) Is there even a way to describe this book? The Reality we know is not anywhere close be being the Reality that IS.

Fair enough, its just for me personally it made me look into some related subject matter, it served as inspiration of learning about religious attitudes towards demonology ect.

Its a very important book in popular culture, and served as inspiration for countless artforms, be it music, film and literature. you can hate it all you want, seems like your on some kind of high horse.

I thought it was rather well written and stands fine among some of the many classic pieces of literature from that era.

I think its an important book, especially in horror fiction, but yeah its nowhere near as important as say the likes of 1984

However its probably in the top 100 of my favourite books i ever read.

Some interesting reflections of Victorian attitudes towards women, womens rights, good and evil, left and right, religion ect.

I think personally you're being unfair.

1)When Jesus Became God--The struggle to define Christianity during the last days of Rome.--Richard E. Rubenstein.

This book reinforced my belief that Jesus is NOT God, and thus changed my perceptions of "modern" Christianity.

~~The Gospel narratives may suggest that Jesus was divine, but they do not insist upon it. Hundreds of years after Jesus' death, the Church councils made Jesus' divinity a central tenet of belief among many of his followers.

When Jesus Became God: The Epic Fight over Christ's Divinity in the Last Days of Rome by Richard Rubenstein is a narrative history of Christians' early efforts to define Christianity by convening councils and writing creeds.

Rubenstein is most interested in the battle between Arius, Presbyter of Alexandria, and Athanasius, Bishop of Alexandria.

Arius said that Christ did not share God's nature but was the first creature God created.

Athanasius said that Christ was fully God. At the Council of Nicea in 325, the Church Fathers came down on Athanasius's side and made Arius's belief a heresy.

A must read for anyone who still holds to the pagan belief that Jesus is God....
