Outcome Based Education

Someone posted Outcome Based Education on another thread. I wanted to expand on that and possibly get a discussion going.

I would surmise that the majority here probably do not
know what Outcome Based Education, and its history, really is. No offense to anyone. I just began researching it myself and never realized how deep its history really goes.

It confirmed my suspicion that schools don't exist to educate kids but rather condition them a certain way. The goal is to create human puppets and it looks like America's puppet masters are succeeding. There are reasons why certain courses are not taught in public schools, why history textbooks are censored, and so on. There are reasons why foreign students testing requirements are lower for medical schools, for example, than for Americans.

And Americans still believe they live in a free country. I bet they were taught that in school too. I know I was. The majority of people I meet cannot even tell me the three branches of government. How free are we really when we don't even understand how our own country is run?

The problem with Outcome Based Education is that no one can guarantee an outcome such as a kid who actually knows something and has learned something. No one can guarantee results when the results are mostly determined by the individual abilities and efforts and motivations of the student. So it has been a miserable failure.

I agree, and think home schooling, if the opportunity is there, is the best way to go.

Didn't they outlaw home school in California recently? I can see other states probably following their lead unfortunately. Can't have any educated people who didn't get indoctrinated with the official program now can we? Haha. Unbelievable that parents can be told how they should educate their own children. Land of the free my ass.

Was the initial expectation to be able to verify something was learned? I know High School students who were the top of their class and graduated with honors, etc. They get accepted to a good University and fail miserably in higher courses where book learning won't bring you that far.

Then there are other students who dropped out of High School or didn't do too well that decide to go back to school by going to a community college, etc. Eventually some of them get degrees in Mathematics, go to Med school, and so on.

Obviously doing well in THEIR curriculum has nothing to do with learning, understanding, and critical thinking.
