Just say you are a mexican or some other illegal alien and you get free tuition in some states, google it to find out which ones.

Go to the fafsa website and fill out the application, it will tell you how much it will cost you and what your financial aid will be.
You could save tens of thousands by staying in the state you live in.

Also-apply for scholorships, not the same as financial aid which everyone gets.(if they apply)
A lot of children's parents are too lazy to fill out the FAFSA and they end up paying or don't go.
If you will be 18, and your folks do not claim you as a tax deduction, you can file an independent FAFSA.
If they use you as a tax deduction, you need thier tax returns to fill-out the info.

Also, depending on your SAT scores, different schools will offer different prices.

If you are too stupid to figure out that you can go to school for free, you shouldn't go anywhere.

Bumped this to say that OP is not the only kid out there who doesn't know how it works.
If your parents won't fill-out the forms--you have to do it yourself.
FAFSA---unless you are really stupid and join the service.

Parents have no right to cock-block their kids from college, but believe me it happens all the time.

Parents get thousands of dollars in tax refunds and deductions yet they won't use the tax-return info. (which is what you need to fill-out the FAFSA paper-work), or release their child as a deduction, (making the kid "independent"/able to file on his/ or her own), and it ticks me off.

I know too many kids who say they "can't afford' to go to school, when really their parents LIE.

go to fastweb.com (free service) and apply for every scholarship that they say you are eligible for. Even the $500 ones. There is no limit on the number of private scholarships that you can have.

Get a second yahoo acct before you register b/c you will get a lot of mail.
