Dont forget the millions that inhabit the island of Cuba. Gustav hit them like an "atomic bomb" with sustained winds of 200mph. Is it too much to say that their sacrifice saved New Orleans? Would it be asking too much for them to do it again?

No one died after Gustav, even though 5,000 homes were obliterated. Thank goodness they have top notch emergency preparedness. Best in the world from what I gather,,,

I meant nothing against the people of Cuba. An oppressed people are not at fault. I do, however, have a problem with their government and ours as well as Russia's. It's as if these leaders are playing a ball game and all want to be the ball hog. I have come to believe that little children get along with each other better than do the "adults" anymore. I hear of supposed weather wars daily here and thought if it were possible, this might be the case. I doubt it, but this is a conspiracy site. Sorry if I've offended you, that wasn't my intention. |

Well crap. Here we go again. This is why I was obsessively making more ice cubes today. it's also why one of those nagging little barometric pressure headaches kicked in.
When I look at the maps, my eyes take the storm through the water between the Dominican Republic and Cuba, maybe across the southern tip of Cuba. I just don't see this thing crossing most of Cuba's land mass.
It could be my imaginings overruling my intuition. Hope so. You know that feeling ? If it's in the gulf, it must be headed everyone's way.

That country is more depressed than oppressed and US can give Georgia-next to Russia 1 Bill more dollars for arms
and mega $$in aid--but not an ounce for people suffering a natural diaster--which this was and IKE can be.
