Thanks! It is almost all the way across Cuba now. My new track is the same in the medium range all the way up to the Central Gulf. Consistent and it should follow that path. It's West of where NHC has it through Cuba.
Due to the lack of land interaction Ike will expand its size and will likely grow to an extremely large hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico.
I'm looking for Ike to morph into a Category 4 super beast which will annihilate New Orleans.

Intensity forecast could go up by 4:00 PM to show a Cat 4 in the GOM.
Wind field expanding and expecting an extremely large hurricane. Possibly on the scale of Katrina or Carla. TS force winds up to 250 miles, hurricane force winds 60 miles.

I'm the Mom that sent you the info (in Clearwater) While I can't say exactly what I do for a career, I can say that I've seen enough over the years to know an up & coming "rockstar". ( corporate lingo for being incredibly talented) So, as that unfolds for you I hope you remember us at GLP and your talents will still be available to the public.
AND..have an action plan to keep yourself grounded...sometimes mine comes down to a simple reminder plastered on each of my locations / pc / laptops.."BREATHE".

Texas Live Report 2 pm CDT User ID: 493444 9/8/2008 3:07 PM | | Re: Ike 145mph sustained | Quote | News ABC in Dallas Texas @ noon today 9-8-08 (Monday):
Gov. Perry of Texas has been alerted by Hurricane Center that Texas is very high risk for landfall and official preps have been started. At this time, it is looking like Ike could come in around Galveston and move right up into Houston
[HINT: everyone should stock up on extra supplies + emergency gasoline ASAP as this region of the Houston ship channel and coastal area east towards Louisiana is loaded with huge refineries & very *dangerous* chemical plants= things could get very wierd fast if direct hit by Cat 4 or God Forbid - a 5!)
In DFW, several large shelters are already being set up TODAY for incoming people as some are already loading & leaving coastal shore areas like Galveston & Beaumont today!
the Dallas school district is right now sending 50 school buses to stage in San Antonio this afternoon.
Folks, this is happening and they are not wasting time!
The TV stations in Houston are now giving specific evacuation information in each news broadcast (per relatives living down there) and registering all those that will need to be moved out in next 48 hours. And much concern is being generated all across Texas... some say landfall could be as early as Thursday night with at least Cat 3 or 4 (and Thursday = 9-11 folks ... hmmmmmmm )
Here is news from DFW breaking now:
North Texas braces for 25,000 Ike evacuees
[link to www.wfaa.com]
NOAA
Hurricane Ike was battering Cuba at 11:15 a.m. Monday.
Hurricane Ike's evacuation is going to be bigger and more complicated than the efforts for Hurricane Gustav, especially for the Texas Gulf Coast.
The metro areas of Houston, Galveston, Beaumont and Port Arthur along the upper Gulf Coast are in the crosshairs of this very dangrous storm.

This storm will become a cat 5 in no time when it enters the Gulf. It looks like it is getting stronger right now and reforming an eye. Take a look at the venting along with the eye, it is amazing...

Texas Update - Brkg! User ID: 493444 9/8/2008 3:17 PM | | Re: Ike 145mph sustained | Quote | Crap ... MSNBC brreaking in right now @ 2:10pm CDT that their latest computer model that has just updated is now moving Ike's landfall more westward from what they had been projecting so far (which had been somewhat east of Houston, more towards Louisiana, and not in alignment with the NHC's projection of Galveston since last night)
Now their models are also showing that Ike is heading to Houston but their model points to an area just east of Galveston with means that the front right quadrant of Ike would sweep in with maximum strength right up the Ship Channel & across all the refineries and Chemical Plants!
This is *NOT* good news at all folks ... a hit like that could put the entire USA in a nationwide "State of Emergency" due to massive gasoline shortages <and lead to martial law - especially with things falling apart as they are in other arenas at this particular time>.
Surely a few can read between the lines on a situation like this so imminent ... about 72 hours in the countdown to get prepped for bug-out
PS ---> Strange timing that a new warning has come out today from the CDC that BIRD FLU is now big threat .... hmmmmmmm = another dot that the other shoe is dropping fast, imho! |

Sorry, I made booboo ... typing in hurry to go fetch school kids and made major error in quote above. Below is my corrected statement:
MSNBC just said that their new computer model coming out now is showing that Ike should make landfall just WEST of Galveston area.
And that post above my original, about how Ike is doing unusual "venting" , has upped my Defcon level a couple notches... |
