422855 - LOL thanks. We can safely say that tropical is not my area of smarts if this goes off again. If it goes way North of Cuba I need to brush up a lot on tropical.
Tornado is easy because It's over land. But these tropical systems suck, lol. |

Been feeling the heat this past week, Ice?
LOL
Hey there!
Just left Baton Rouge this afternoon.
What a nightmare.
I'm in my home in New Orleans and now have electricity and ice and a/c...THANK GOD!
Things got pretty rough there in Baton Rouge for a while.
Actually, things were pretty rough until I left today! ;)
How'd you make out there in D.S.? Did you stay or evacuate?
My son's rear windows to his car blew out and of course, once the winds AND RAIN are here...no amt. of tape and plastic is going to help.
So...I see we have a couple of new ones out there now? Haven't had access to Internet or news for a few days.
However, I'm ready...still primed and pumped, but exhausted. |

The computer models are just as the public sees. Anyone can make an estimation using them. Most do this now-a-days, which is why Accuweather exists. |

No problem.
That NHC track has the center line pointed straight at NOLA again. Cuba and NOLA. FWIW |

The last thing you should have to worry about is another storm. I personal feeling about it is that you don't have anything to worry about.
But, my brain reminds me the data may differ with that.
As one poster said, the Gulf is like a pinball machine. That's it exactly. You guys know, it's how and where a storm goes across or bounces off of Cuba or Yucatan, or the tip of Florida that can make it's course in spite of the expected path.
I see that the path keeps dipping further south, so we in Texas are beginning to watch to see how the cane bounces off the land.
We've been watered a little already, including the sauna after. You guys were watered, and blown dry. Alabama/Florida already have been watered too.
That makes this one a crap shoot. |

Thank you!
That means more than you could ever know.
We'll be praying all of you there in Texas...take care, but trust me...be well prepared. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.
and...A GENERATOR is worth its weight in gold!!!
I don't know how we'd have made it through the hot humid nights without it.
LOTS OF FANS TOO and you CAN'T get them after the storm passes...and an outdoor burner for cooking. YOU CAN'T HAVE ENOUGH FANS...THE HEAT IS INTENSE and DIFFICULT!
it's a good investment...
Thank you again for your kind words.
All is good here in New Orleans and now that I'm back home and out of Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge is going to have it hard for some time, I'm afraid.
Good luck to you guys!! :) |

4 days ago I thought....wouldn't it be crazy if this thing somehow stayed mainly straight and got in the GOM, and Then curved north toward NOLA....and Now - Here we are. |

| Kevin_Martin User ID: 496821 9/6/2008 1:03 AM | | Re: Ike 145mph sustained | Quote | 276680 - Here's some food for thought. Imagine you playing with fire. You touch it and it doesn't burn you. You touch it again and it burns you.
Imagine playing Russian roulette. Aim the gun at your head. 1 out of 6. 1 bullet is going to take you out. You press the trigger once...Nothing...You press It's buttons and do it again...Nothing...You do it again...Nothing...Then again? BAM, you die.
People need to realize that messing with disorders of a major magnitude is like playing Russian roulette. In fact it should be a federal offense to taunt an unstable person because of the harm they can do to one. Just like many drugs are illegal...Because any can do harm to someone in the long run. An unstable person can surely kill or hurt a multitude of people that screw with them. So take this for food for thought. Knock it off and do not mess with people that are unstable and you will start with me. Learn this through life because ONE DAY, if you cross someone that is near you that is worse than I am, you will have pulled the trigger on the 4th chamber in the roulette. Something to think about. Next time you taunt someone that is unstable. It's NOT worth it.
That goes to all of you that like to taught people on the net or in person. One day. It will come. So learn from it and live a better life. Not one that ends from your taunt.
Prime example is Columbine: Kids were unstable but taunted to the brink they murdered the ones that did so, but letting go the ones that were NICE to them.
More examples I am sure but make it a lesson and knock the shit off. |

If accurate, it doesnt look good for you guys at all! I hope that it is far from correct, if not the SWHTF! |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 491637 9/6/2008 1:12 AM | | Re: Ike 145mph sustained | Quote | Any model beyond 3 days is a crap shoot. So much can change that will effect the path of the storm. 100 mile change in either direction in landfall makes a huge difference in where the devastation will occur. It's wise to keep your eye on these storms, and if you are in the Gulf Coast region, you should stay prepared for a storm to affect you. I live in southwest Louisiana, we got brushed by Gustav - some trees down, electricity out in some areas - but we didn't get near the damage of Baton Rouge and Lafayette. I'm watching Ike, but I can't let myself get too stressed at this point. It could come this direction. It may not. I didn't leave for Gustav even though we were under a mandatory evacuation order, and I won't leave for Ike. I'm prepared with everything I need to survive and I'll stay here and protect my house. |

But I'm unstable but I want to help ones that make ones like me mad. I see what it takes to go after someone and trust me...It's not good and is dangerous. I just don't know you and don't want you to say things to anyone else to my magnitude in person or nearby and something happens to you. Life is too precious to lose over stuff that could be kept quiet.
I've made good and bad calls. Are forecasters do this. I make no money from it. I just do it because It keeps me sane aand off the drugs and keeps me busy during my high disorder stress. Weather is not 100% and with modification etc, this will only be a reoccurring pattern. Have a good night... |

The levees did well, and that was the best news. I've had family there almost since the beginning of the city, so it tugs at my heart. Family in Lafayette also.
I have my growing stash of filled water bottles, candles, lamps & oil, stocked up on ice, batteries, tape, plastic. Have fans, will cool. Cell phones topped up. Hard drive copied. About all I can do until or if we have to do more.
Maybe by Monday we'll have a better idea where it's going.
