New Orleans currently under Martial Law
Have quite a few family members still here, having fled from the storm, still not able to get back to New Orleans.

They were told that the city is under martial law: military roam the streets, sending anyone who ventures out of their homes to Angola. Stay home or go to jail is what they are shouting in the streets.

No water, no electricity, and the grocery stores will only sell the very basics... no meat (to the extreme disappointment of my friends who stayed.)

Why is the news not covering this? They're making it sound like it's all just peachy.

Martial Law isn't in the constitution. It's probably unconstitutional as well.

These people could most likey go out and tear up those that are roaming the streets and it would be ok in the eyes of those that drafted the constitution.

i have been thinking "trial run" since i tumbled to what was fishy about the whole affair. the katrina debacle was setting it up. i never underestimate those people, their schemes are amazing. i trust my instinct and close attn. to what is in front of my nose...when your henhouse gets raided and you see fox trax, you don't go lookin for a bobcat. also see the thread by lizantart, something strange going on..about alot of moving around of military vehicals.

And they did hype it all up to scare the crap out of everyone into fleeing . What are they doing right now ? going thru yer underwear drawer in search of valuables ? Using the largely unpopulated city for their training exercises ?
Just passing thru.

So if they did nothing and let the looters have the city you'd be bitching and moaning about that.

Face it, TPTB no matter what they do will alway be in the wrong.

This vid, which was provided by an AC on another thread last week, is of a NO resident reporting post-Katrina experiences with martial law. I had not seen it before the posting, and for education it is really worth the watch.

Re: New Orleans currently under Martial Law
According to the Constitution, Martial Law was to be used "only" in case of an actual invasion, or civil war, and only in the areas affected. The Constitution is supposed to guarantee that "...the liberty of no single American citizen should be sacrificed to promote the militaristic ambitions of an administration bent on conquest abroad...". The Constitution specifically forbid the "...scrapping of our liberties in the advancement of any war aiming at aggression...", especially when the leaders of the nation "...embroil their people in an offensive war, and then call it a "defensive" war and use it as an excuse to sweep away the people's liberty...". Furthermore, the rights of the citizens may not be destroyed or denied "...in order to strengthen the military arm of an administration engaged in foreign wars...". Also, "...Wars of aggression begin at home--the first offensive of every conquest-minded despot or dictator is against the liberties of his own people...". Lastly, "...The only kind of government which will respect the liberties and rights of other nationals is the kind of government which respects the liberties and rights of its own citizens. No government ever did injustice abroad before it first did injustice at home." (All words in quotes are from the book The Biblical Basis of the Constitution by Dan Gilbert, 1936)

NOTHING WILL CHANGE UNTIL AMERICAN'S STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES. STOP TAKING GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS AND DO IT FOR YOURSELF.

The government only gets away with this because people need the governments assistance.

Co-dependancy is the killer of independance.

Not so... it's just the misinformation that I have a problem with. And the anger and violence from which their behavior stems.
"
Looting is a BIG problem. "People suck" to quote my husband. This secretly imposed martial law is probably the only way to keep the crime down,, having lived there myself. There's something "special" about the people there, and it makes them do crazy things.

But why is the media hiding this fact?

And could Houston, having been through the same mass-evacuation process, be the next in line?

Does N O have docks that are good for unloading troops and equipment? Are they set up to handle any amount of military stuff coming INTO the state? There NOW seems to be a LOT of vacant housing/billeting available.

Its a dot that MAY connect to what's happening in Haiti.

There was an invasion by a potentially catastrophic hurricaine.

They estimated potential damage at I believe 28 billion or more.

I don't think the Constitution spells out that an invasion has to be done by human beings.

So your point is mute at best.

I live in a hurricaine area and have suffered hits.

They do NOT deny you your home over lack of power.

They DO however inspect if significant damage is done, and keep you from staying there if there is a significant safety risk from a collapsing structure.

It is about public safety, not pushing people around.

And if someone got hurt because the authorities were lax and let someone stay somewhere they shouldn't have, GLPers would be the first bitching and moaning about it LONG and LOUD.

"Why wasn't something done"? Just like you did about Katrina.

Well this time they acted pre-emptively and you're bitching and moaning about that, and making up all sorts of conspiracy BS about it.

Well, I guess that's what you do isn't it?

It get rather freaking tiresome though.

Yeah, and we've seen what happened in NOLA after Rita without marshall law. Like starving, dying and looting are better than marshall law. DUH!!! Some people will bitch if you hang them with a new rope, and others will hang themselves if you give them enough rope.
