Join the military. Or get a job somewhere that pays cash(place that isn't concerned with your age or education).

Re: help, ive been kicked out of my parents house, i have no where do go.
I believe legally at the age of 18 you are an adult in Alberta. My suggestion is get a job for now, as you need the cash, and at night finish school. DO NOT become a drop out. You need to somehow support yourself. Question. How come you are 18 and have not finished school? Did something go wrong there? A good place to get work, I understand, from a trucker friend, is in the Tar Sands. Go up to Fort McMurray and kick one of those goofy newfies outa there and take their job. Apparently there are lots of jobs up north in the oil fields. If you have to clean toilets, do it. By getting a job you will grow up and learn to take care of yourself. Get rid of the porn and learn some self discipline. BIG HUG. Good luck.....you can do it, we've all had to at some time take the step out of the house, you just got pushed out.....

go home and apologize

if she won't take you back, file a police complaint and sue your step mom

this could set a legal precedence.

1. Women do not have the legal right to throw 5 year old children out unto the streets like a piece of garbage.

2. So what is the legal limit?

3. Landlords must give tenants atleast 30 days notice to move out.

Your step mom did not give you 30 days notice or anything.

Sue her

What your step mom did should be illegal.

Landlords don't even have the right to throw tenants out of the house without a legal court order and without atleast 30 days notice.

You do have tenant's rights in this case.

She needs a court order (permission from a Judge) to throw you out like that.

And without 30 days notice (atleast) you can sue her.

If the police won't help you, you can sue them too.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 497269

She slapped him. That's assault. He should file a complaint and have her arrested. I'm assuming Canadian law is similar.

OP, Don't be afraid to go to cops. The things you did won't be that big of a deal to them no matter what your step mom says.

First call your dad and ask him if you can come back until you finish school and promise to do better. If he says no then do this:

1.) Tomorrow go to your school and tell a counselor what happened. They will get help for you to keep you in school. Don't quit school. You won't be able to get a decent job with out a H.S. diploma. The school counselor will know of places you can stay and what help you can get.

My ex was a teacher and this has happened before. The school helped the student who had been kicked out.

2.) File an assault complaint on your step-mom if you want revenge but it would mean she would never take you back if you do. So that part may not be worth it.

BUT DO GO TO YOUR SCHOOL AND TALK TO A COUNSELOR OR PRINCIPLE OR EVEN ONE OF YOUR TEACHES THAT YOU LIKE OR EVEN IF THE TEACHER IS NOT YOURS BUT YOU LIKE THEM. DO THAT FIRST THING TOMORROW. THEY DO CARE ABOUT SUCH THINGS.

Hope all works out for you.

Forgot to say: how do you know she hasn't changed her mind. Maybe your dad has talked her into letting you come back. Do call him and ask. If answer is no go talk to your school.

Talk to your school and let them know your situation. These days schools have been forced FINALLY to do something about their homeless teen problem and many now are hooked up to social services. If they shrug their shoulders find a social worker through county services - they might make your parents pay for your room and board until you graduate. Do all you can to stay off of the street, darling. I was 15 when I left an unbearable home situation and though it wasn't all bad going out there and making my way in the world all by myself at 15, some things did happen I wish didn't. Young people on the street are too gosh darn vulnerable.

OP take your freedom and run!
Go find volunteers jobs where you get free bed and food (someone always needs help). Take season jobs. Learn some skills. Work with mechanics, computer repairs and learn how to, even if you get paid less you need to learn some skills. This way you dont have to ask for something without being able to offer something.

I left home at 16, started out as nothing at a hairdresser. Learned and started working at 17. Then I learned languages and fixing computers. These skills have always opened doors and gave me what I needed. Now I own my house and live debt free.

If you are not afraid to work there will always be opportunities, maybe not always earning a load of money but enough to survive and be free and above all to LEARN. Forget school, life is your teacher.

Be an adult, clean up your mess, dont brake promises, dont bother others, be honest, help people, offer yourself. If people know they can count on you there will always be room for you.

Best of luck to you!

I got kicked out at 18 myself, and it was the best thing my parents could have done for me.

You are gonna learn real fast where to get yourself food, places to crash at night, and where to go get work as a day laboror to get yourself a meal, a cold beer and a bong hit.
From there, save up to get yourself an auction "throw-away" car to get yourself to a better job. And from there it's pretty easy if you don't blow all your cash on pussy and beer.

Do not resort to petty theft and dumpster diving at 3 in the morning, because that is the best way to land yourself in the County Jail, and that is a downhill route, my friend...

Don't panic, you are not a child anymore, it's time to fly out of the nest and see the real World.

Re: help, ive been kicked out of my parents house, i have no where do go.
Ya, I guess that you will have to realize that other people may not be willing to put up with what you do under their roof and eating their food. So, if you can not talk them into letting you continue to live there until you are out of high school and then get your degree and then perhaps a thing to do is join the military, then you better start reading psychological books at the library.

Life is hard sometimes and people in the this world will take advantage of you if you let them. No need to be depress, some other people are more depressed and angrier than need to be. Don't let it build up but seek to learn in this world. Not everything that is going on will you like, or even begin to like. No one else likes the naysayers and predictions of the future some other people come up with either. If anything, like the old saying goes, take it with a grain of salt, and think for yourself in the end. Don't let emotion lead you without at least trying to think of the intellectual thought processes either. Nothing happens that fast (although it could) but usually people have found that out, and if you have not found that out, then perhaps you should realize that first. Nothing is never all lost, and nothing is ever all realized in life. Some people achieve that to his/her purposes, but most trade off something else for how they live, even the poor.

It does not pay to be a fanatic about anything, other people do that enough.

Don't think you are thinking though when it is more emotions than anything else. Obviously your stepmom may be more scared than you are, thus she feels a commmitment to scold you perhaps more then you need to be. Afterall, it is just a reaction, and reactions can be for the birds so to speak. The trick is knowing that most people may act because of the reaction to an event or situation, but there in lies the rub - it was your choice and obviously you forget to find out how your stepmom would feel about what you were doing, or you wanted to take a risk, and well, they found out.

Now you can weasel around all that you want to (and don't talk about the military because the same thing happens there also) so that is what you have to learn. What you think about and how you feel about it, as long as you realize that other people may have different feelings and think differently about it. That is what you may have to find out - at home - but do not become a slave to it either.

Thus the phrase of "growing up" or "making a man out of you". Ya, I have heard it all before, who made them think that they were any bit better or not as just as condemned as other people may be? If it reaches all the way up to God, humanity may be going in the opposite direction, and on a slippery slope off of the cliff. Put or try to put everything into perspective, people will try and sell anything in this world, if it for some reason makes them feel better of makes them think they are more powerful, or more of something, but that something may just be a prelude to making them what they tend not to think about - other people thinking they are insane.

Perhaps you stepmom rather see you do well in high-school, graduate, find a girlfriend that is nice and seeking a better life and perhaps you also think of going to college.

If not, because they screwed that up to with the costs and the whims and the claims about how much it does cost to do all that while they usually think of theirselves and their wages first or some other method of control - that is what you have to do:

Weasel though the mine-field of humans on this Planet. A daunting task at times even in the best of times, and also in the worst of times. It is ironic that humans want all of that while they are alive, for some will claim that they don't feel alive if they are not causing that or taking that.

I think it is emotional turmoil out of them and not needed.

OP, that is the correct course of action to take .... you have messed up but there are systems in place to help you if you go by the rules and start with your school counselor. These types of situations happen all the time with kids that mess up when they are just turned 18 and are still in High School and the parents are burned out on dealing with 'em and give the kid the boot.

Do NOT sleep on benches or anywhere in public as you can get murdered ... there are also churches that have shelters and work-school programs for youth that need help like you do... the school counselor will know how to get you into the system for assistance & also has the power to do things to even get you out of school & maybe even into a local college where you get to live in a dormitory on campus, etc.

Yes, this happened to a boy that I have helped, just as you did, he was getting into some trouble, got kicked out finally, and I had to intervene to keep him from ending up dead or end some gang or just 'disappeared' by the evil ones that lurk looking for kids that they can abduct.

That boy got to do early graduation, was placed in a church shelter that took him to school daily, then he was able to be placed in a college program for kids like him at a small college that get funds for such cases. He is now doing okay & his future looks good --- even has part time job near the campus that he walks to & may soon buy a used car.

PS .... He wised up and quit all the bad stuff too as I made it clear I would not keep helping him if he screwed with me -- even gave up cigarettes & beer.

I agree with the posters who said go to school tomorrow and see a counsellor.

I'm Canadian. I'm female. I'm now a 38 yr old college educated, happily married mother etc etc etc...but when I was your age I could have written the same post (except for the porn/bong part. LOL) I swore I would NEVER do this to my child, so my heart is kinda breaking for you.

My mother and step-father kicked me out and told me I had to find a job and a place to live. (I was failing math and so obviously wasn't fit for university)

Anyhow, I cried, went and hung out at the library like you are doing and then went to the school to talk to someone. FIND an adult whom you can trust that can help you. You might have to go seek some sort of welfare program (Ontario has Ontario Works) BUT get yourself back to school pronto and don't let this throw your life off track. It's a set back, no doubt, but you can do anything.

I ended up living with a family, becoming a nanny and finishing my education. Me living with them in their stable home was actually the best thing that could have happened to me.

You can do this. There IS help out there for you. Don't let it ruin your life. Find a friend or relative or someone. Are you 100% positive you can't go home?????
What about aunts/uncles/grandparents/cousins/family friends/school friend's parents?

Me again. I forgot to say that in Ontario there is a one time set up for homeless people to get them off their feet. I'm sure there is something similar in Alberta. You'll get something like $700.00 which is for first/last month's rent, food, household stuff (bed, dishes, towels etc) It's for emergency situations like this. I think you'd certainly qualify. You would have to call whatever the equivilant to OntarioWorks in Alberta is.

Homeless shelters. And work your way to the top. Find someone you can trust and rent an apartment later. Lots of people have been homeless. It hasn't killed anyone. You just have to have a willingness to work. The experience might actually be good for you. Establish some independence. Your parents can't always take care of you.

you might be able to find a room on craigslist, although there are a lot of fucked up people on there. look in college areas and look for a room. a friend of my son got a room with 6 polish students for $100 month. they are culinary students so they are always feeding him to get his opinion on their cooking. might be something like that in toronto.

I love how all the armchair philosophers on here and street people give all this hard advice about getting a job and getting an apartment.

Really? In this economy? Do you know how expensive Canada, in general is? What is a 17 year old guy gonna find out there with little experience or even a residence?

Times are different and it's not as 1,2,3 as it seems.

The bigger problem is the lack of family we have these days and lack of commitment we have for each other. Broken families, no loyalties, no care. The dad will be one of those seniors at the home that I worked at that the kids didn't give a shit about and visited once a year.

I couldn't imagine being on my own at 17 like that and at that time, it was much easier. Most people I know even in their 30's are home because of the cost of living here. Crazy.
