Wishful thinking.

Let's get past 10-9-8 first ... now there's a countdown if ever I heard one.

10-9-8 also happens to be Yom Kippur ... the most solemn and important day in the Biblical calendar.

Prior to Yom Kippur, the Feast of Trumpets, Rosh HaSHana, takes place for 10 days ("The Days of Awe") - - trumpet blasts are sounded daily, and they are associated with the calling of a solemn assembly, a warning of danger and action to be taken, or the arrival of a king. This is a time of repentance before the Lord and a time to seek forgiveness from anyone you have harmed with restitution.

Many Christians are on high alert as the trumpet sound is spoken of in the New Testament as a sign of His coming for His Church. A trumpet sound also heralds His return to earth to reign as The King of Kings.


Yom Kippur is the holiest day of all, when God's forgiveness is sought and His judgement feared.
Historically, only once each year was the High Priest permitted to enter the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle or Temple and to approach the Lord where His Spirit resided.

The High Priest atoned for his own sins and then for the sins of all the people through sacrifice of a goat outside the city walls. The High Priest was then able to enter the Holy of Holies, sprinkling blood on the Ark of the Covenant. No one ever knew if the High Priest would survive entering the Holy of Holies - - a rope was tied to his legs so he could be pulled out if he died.

If the High Priest lived, He would pronounce the Aaronic blessing on the people - - the only time in the year anyone would invoke the tetragamatron, the usually unutterable name of God.

Since the goat was only a symbolic sacrifice for the sins of the people, Jesus was born and became the ultimate sacrifice, once and for all.

When the Temple was destroyed by the Babylonians and again by the Romans, the Holy of Holies, a High Priest, and a sacrifice no longer existed. Instead of these, the Jewish people used prayer and good deeds as an alternative.

Today, the Day of Atonement is spent in the Synagogue in repentance, fasting and prayer - - requests to be written in the Book of Life for one more year are made.

In modern Israel, nothing moves on Yom Kippur. One can walk down the middle of their highways because there is no traffic on this day. It is a day of fear, awe, repentance and thankfulness for the at-one-ment we are given with our Maker.


If that trumpet sounds and a bunch of Christians are out of here, you'll have 10 days before countdown - - kinda the way I see it, anyway.

Hopeful thinking, yes!
