I agree with you, AC481329
The problem with "black schools" is not that there aren't enough whites in them. The problem is that the children who attend "black schools" are not taught anything useful.
For instance, how about teaching the principles of investing, saving and leveraging dollars? Most of these kids will never achieve even the middle class, much less become rich, because they aren't taught the right stuff. Quoting: Anonymous Coward
Yup I was one of them.
Bussed across town to be a token. The school was 92 % black and 8% white that were bussed in. I got along fine but didn't learn a damn thing except how to roll blunts and drink 40s. |

Forced busing "to end segregation" was done by Nixon.
It's part of Nixon's Southern Strategy"
In the deep south, whites began "Church schools" and all but the poorest white kids went to these private schools.
Still do to this day.
Lots of black students at thsoe private schools too, but trouble makers druggies and such, of all skin colors, are sent back to the public schools.
A few black kids in an otherwise "white school" get along OK and become upperclass usually.
A few white kids in an otherwise "black school" are what's know as victims.
Local news covers the rapes beatings muggings and murders in and around black schools.
Whites are about half the victims, yet only a small percent of the student body.
I recently had a visit from a kid who used to live nearby. He is now an Auburn University student.
His dad and I were friends and fishing buddies.
He used to visit me to get my help with his computers and with homework, and very often, to complain the other kids attacked him for "acting white" because he went to school to learn, and had ambition to be better than just another druggie thug black hanging out.
He talked about the 'news didn't report' all the rapes, muggings and beatings that happened at his school.
Neighborhood schools work, busing just makes enemies of people who might have gotten along. |

oh good god. I was a white girl going to a majority black school in the seventies. Victim my ass. I was a long distance runner and one of three white girls on the track team. We were a TEAM. I was treated with total respect. There ARE no victims, only volunteers. |

My Observation on this from being in the Boston area, Scetion-8 (free housing) gets built, within ten year the housing has been completely trashed by the residents as they have no respect or appreciation for the property. We see a rotating construction and reconstruction of these facilities because basically these people behave like animals. The same thing happenns in the schools in these areas, once again these people have no respect for things that are not theirs so they trash them.

This is true. I predict white people will put their kids in private schools in droves and it will cripple the public school systems ability to run without the funding they would have gotten without the loss of these students. |

It's great that you had a positive experience 30 years ago, but I've heard too many accounts of assaults and harassment from white students who went to predominantly black schools to believe your experience is the norm today. Things have changed quite a bit since you went to high school, ya old battleax. Anyhaggy, there wasn't the need for security guards and metal detectors scanning for weapons waaaaaaaaaaay back when you were in high school. Black high schools today are a whole 'nother level of dangerous than you remember from your rotary phone days. |

That would explain how my middle class neighborhood has become a haven for blacks. I live in a home that's 3000 sqft and cost 165K, so homes in my area are similar in size and price. When I moved inm back in 2004 the are was mostly white, with some Hispanic people but all lived well together and was peaceful, children always playing outside, young families living here, park full of moms with their strollers, then fast forward to Hurricane Katrina and the influx of hundreds of thousands of blacks into Houston (which now looks like Chicago in the 90s, thank you very much) and now my neighborhood is at least 50% black. No more kids out in the streets (parents too scared to let them out now), black teens walking around in groups at all hours of the day and night, talking and cursing loudly or grown men hanging out on their driveways all day with their garage door open (hello people you have backyards now, you're not in an apartment anymore) and their 3 yr old toddling down the street alone while dad talks loudly on his cell phone. Don't these people ever work? I can't believe they don't work and yet they live in these homes and drive Lexus and Infinity cars. We bust our butts working and paying mortgage, health insurance, gas, groceries and the high taxes of Suburbia for our children to live better yet these people come live here and ruin our neighborhoods, on our dime?? WTF?
They're living 2-3 families per home and the worst part is they are living here in these big houses and they don't even have any furniture!! Talk about living beyond your means! They don't last long in the homes but the next inhabitants will also be black. Ugh... And yes, crime has gone up (our car was broken into TWICE on our own driveway in a matter of hours), whites and hispanics are moving out and i'm left in this beautiful neighborhood full of black people leasing and not paying taxes yet sending their 5 children to school with my kids. Hmmm... oh yeah I'm not looking forward to an Obama presidency. Thanks, but no thanks. I went from not caring about race to being wary of blacks. It sucks but that's Houston post-Katrina for you. I'd hate to see America, post-Obama. Can you say riots? |
