High Representative Javier Solana will today submit a report on the goals of EU security defense policy at the meeting in Avignon.

Although EU relations with Russia and the Georgian crisis have been transferred to today’s debate, it has been proposed to launch an international inquiry into possible violations of human rights during the Russian intervention in South Ossetia.

Ministers will focus predominantly on relations with Russia in the light of the Georgian crisis, given that French President Nicolas Sarkozy, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and Solana are travelling to Moscow on Monday with a view to obtaining firm guarantees from Russian leaders that the EU-brokered peace treaty to end the conflict will be respected.

On Monday, EU leaders stated that in the event of Russian troops failing to pull out of security pockets in Georgian territory, the start of talks on a very important new EU-Russia partnership and cooperation agreement, scheduled for September 15, would be postponed.

If the EU ministers have any sense they will keep a relationship with America as a whore with a view to dumping her in the end while they tie the knot and marry Russia.

imo many countries are watching the elections very closely because they will have to deal with whoever wins the presidency. Obama and McCain have very different views of the the country moving forward. We are at a crossroads, again imo. what does everybody else think

You also have to ask whether or not Obama and McCain are truly of different tickets. What I mean is, do they share the same puppet master?

But assuming they do not, then yeah, yeah, I agree. We're at a crossroads, alright. One might very well start WW3, while the other... who knows. It'll be like a game or russian roulette, no pun intended, for the other.
