People should have one meat-free day a week if they want to make a personal and effective sacrifice that would help tackle climate change, the world’s leading authority on global warming has told The Observer
Dr Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which last year earned a joint share of the Nobel Peace Prize, said that people should then go on to reduce their meat consumption even further.
His comments are the most controversial advice yet provided by the panel on how individuals can help tackle global warning.
Pachauri, who was re-elected the panel’s chairman for a second six-year term last week, said diet change was important because of the huge greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental problems - including habitat destruction - associated with rearing cattle and other animals. It was relatively easy to change eating habits compared to changing means of transport, he said.

Eating meat is the most primitive aspects of humans today.

Yes, humans have in general increased in size over the past few generations. It is in part due to diet, but not jsut more meat. The general quality of the foods found has improved. You can get all kinds of things fresher than you used to, in part due to refrigeration. Dietary supplements also may play a role, in that they are more common now than WWII era.

Thats right eat less meat and eat more GM crops sheeple.
OMG not the cow fart problem again, last time I checked, farming crops uses far more diesel and causes far more pollution per hectre than grazing ever will. Not to mention an increase in BAYER and MONSANTO products to grow these extra crops needed to fulfill a less meat diet.

It is an interesting thing:
Ask yourself this, and please, be honest about it, we all know that everyone here can do tongue in cheek...
If it comes down to a choice between eating no meat, or millions, perhaps billions of people dying (for the sake of argument lets randomly asume you are in the "gonna die" group)would you be willing to give up meat?
Or is your personal desire so strong that you would give up the lives of millions for your momentary pleasure?
Yes, yes, one can (and some do) go on about how the whole global warming thing is a scam, etc.
But if it provably comes down to no meat, or dead planet, which would you choose?
