Re: How to dilute Oil of Oregano
Hi OP! Timely question, I just spent some time last night diluting OOO in a bunch of one ounce bottles so they would be ready to give away if that was necessary.

I use the ratio of ten parts extra virgin olive oil to one part Oil of Oregano.

I just eyeball it actually.

It might be better to keep this stuff in small bottles for the reason that if you drop one, you don't lose your whole supply, only one ounce. Also easier to share that way.

Don't store OOO in bottles that have the eyedropper screw on top. You can keep an eyedropper top on the bottle you are using, but for storage I would use the regular cap on the bottle. The oil is so strong it can eat the black rubber of the eyedropper.

I get one ounce amber glass bottles and eyedropper caps, also the Oil of Oregano at San Francisco Herb Co.

[link to www.SFHerb.com]

I have tried a lot of their essential oils and have tried oils from other suppliers and I have to say the San Francisco Herb essential oils are better quality for sure, and the price is really reasonable.

They have other herbs, spices, supplies, and dehydrated vegetables too.

I have ordered from them many times and would highly recommend them as a trustworthy place to do business.

But to recap my answer to your question: ten parts olive oil to one part oregano oil.
10:1
and don't use it undiluted!

I take it by putting a dropperful under my tongue, holding it there, then taking a mouthful of water and swish it around for a while, then swallow it in short small swallows.

Edited to add: That's what I do. I am not advising you to do the same. The best authorities, like Martin Watt at [link to www.aromamedical.com] do not think that you should take essential oils internally. They give sound reasons why you should not do so. The main one being, you do not know what is really in that bottle. And they give sound reasons for why no matter what someone tells you, about how the oil has been "tested", you still do not know. Also there have not been safety studies done. So even though a lot of people take OOO internally, and I do too, you have to make that decision for yourself. There are a lot of shysters out there in the essential oil/aromatherapy field. A lot of ignorant advice and a lot of adulterated product.

I took too much once, like three dropperfuls, and swallowed it in a gulp, and almost choked to death, I'm not kidding, I was gasping for air, it was kind of scary. So don't get carried away, treat this stuff with caution.

And don't get any on your contact lenses! Or on any delicate body parts!

Re: How to dilute Oil of Oregano
As an aromatherapist of 20+ years, I can tell you the dosage should be based on drops, or mls.....if you are diluting it in a carrier oil, then I would use 50 drops = 2&1/2 ml in a 50ml bottle. 100 drops = 5ml = 1 teaspoon in 100mls of carrier oil.

20 drops = 1ml

50ml carrier oil = 50 drops essential oil = two and one half ml

100ml carrier oil = 100 drops essential oil = five ml

That is the strongest dose that I would recommend. More is not better when using essential oils, in fact can be extremely dangerous... One should never use oils (except lavender), undiluted on skin

In an oil burner, 5 - 10 drops

Never use it straight for anything. Dilute it first in olive oil, at least 10:1 if not even more diluted.

I have heard it will be good for nail fungus.

A friend of mine cured his nail fungus by taking a teaspoon (he's a big guy) of baking soda every night for about six weeks I think, took it in water before bed.

He got that off Earth Clinic

Re: How to dilute Oil of Oregano
I forgot to add. I never recommend taking oils orally, the consequences can be disastrous for someone who does not have major experience in usage of essential oils.

They are absorbed through your skin and through the mucous membrane in you nose and therefore into the bloodstream. There is NO need to use them orally.

I tell you this from my 20+ years experience as a practicing aromatherapist and my 30t years as a RN.
