43 years old, smoked for 28 years of that
BUT I QUIT !

It's been a month but I FEEL GOOD.

I just wanted to share the experience. It was "Allen Carr" who made me do that, or rather who enabled that. The same Allen Carr that when I read about his death in 2006 said "Good, one less cigarette enemy". I sincerely apologize for that Mr Carr and REST IN PEACE knowing that you saved millions !

Now, I won't say anything against smoking knowing that 2 months ago I would strangle anyone who did.

Just this though...If you ever consider quitting, read Allen Carr. The book was enough for me. There is also the DVD and seminars in most parts of the world.

I did it while I was on the beach and drinking a beer. Funny...For me at least...

Tobacco was the easy quit for me. I can't seen to quit pot. I'll go a few days and then break down again...

I'm 43 also and quit about 3or 4 months ago. When I heard that Ken Steadman was in the big H, for some reason that made me quit. Congrats.

I've never smoked cigarettes but I do enjoy some pot every now and then. You should feel glad to have quit! My roommate did the same about the same time as you and he is very happy to have done so. :)

For me "the reason behind" was my dad. Lung cancer after 55 years of smoking and they can't even operate him because he can't breath properly. I don't want to do that to myself, not when I have an 8 year old son who looks up to me.

Oh and all those fears over the years..."How can I do this or that w/o smoking" all turned out to be lies which I had told myself.

May I humbly offer you to read "Allen Carr" ? It is also good for past quitters. No "will power", no "replacement". Trust me as a recent quitter. It's a book after all, you got nothing to lose except a few bucks.

I'm 45 smoke and I run 5 miles on short days and 12 on long days. Burn 1000 calories on the cardio machines at the Gym. Born with Asthma back in the 60 thru the 80's there was no cure, just going to the hospital.

I feel wonderful, you know they say with the crap that comes into our atmosphere from outer space that smoking prevents the fragments from collecting on tissue instead it attaches to tar.

And what cured my Asthma or at least got it under control was Weed. When I feel an attack coming on I take some.

For me, I get terrible anxiety and panic attacks when I don't smoke pot... I'm going on two days without right now and I've already torn my house apart with a flashlight smoking anything green I find in the carpet.

It isn't a physical addiction, but a very strong mental one.

Good for you, the only times I've really gone without it and been ok was while I was traveling some place entirely new.

Sad thing is I know these two days won't go towards anything because as soon as I can I'll smoke it again.

Its the other way around for me.

Pot was much easier to give up. I admit that it was due to me moving interstate and leaving behind all my pothead mates.

I'ved tried 3 times to give up cigs, all 3 times I managed to cut back to only 2-5 cigs per day for up to 5 weeks but then caved in on the piss on night.

At least you guys are being honest about pot being addictive.
Smoked for 25 years and it was tough to quit.
I finally had to have a grand celebration of quiting.
