Cat 2 my sweet f-ckin' TX ass.

Thanks for the vid, friend. I'm sharing this with everyone in my address book since media coverage seems to have come to a halt.

We will not forgot, but first we must know and understand.

And we must learn the lessons: our storm classification is no longer effective and/or the majority of the weather service simply f-up. Ike was not your 'typical' Cat 2 hurricane.

Ven, thank you for your service. God be with the victims and their families.

Hi Tx P. That was a good find. At least they were able to get out.
The storm was a Cat 2 @ 110 mph winds, just 1 mph shy of a Cat 3. We had some 110 winds in downtown Houston, so I suspect it may have been a minimal Cat 3 at landfall. they said that wind gages were taken out, so hard to tell exactly.
The storm surge rivaled the 1900 storm that almost wiped out Galveston, before the sea wall. It was rated at a storm surge of a Cat4-5 storm, and on the storm surge scale of 1-6 , it was a 5.6.
There was a full moon, extreme high tide because of the swells being pushed in. That is why even hurricane veterans were fooled, and were trapped.
Our weather people in Houston say that it's time to retire the current storm rating system because it simply doesn't apply to the overall storm & surge.
Some with houses built up on pilons as high as 20 feet still had a foot of water in their homes.
Here is a video from Oak Island , another small community on the east bay, Chambers County.

I sent links like this, and others, to my son in Gulfport, MS. He and his wife and their son evacuated to Hattiesburg during Katrina (at the time, she was newly pregnant with our precious granddaughter). He was blown away by the devastation from IKE. Mind you, he worked on clean-up crews from Biloxi to Waveland, and NOTHING that he saw then compares with the disaster that is the Bolivar Peninsula and Galveston.

Nobody talks about it, he says. They didn't hear much about it on their news.

It's as if it didn't happen, the MSM is so quiet about it now.

I know Kevin Martin was banned for some bizarre posts he made in some other thread a few days ago; I have nothing to say about that because I never saw the noted thread.

However, Kevin DID warn us that IKE would be a "tsunami," based on winds and surf levels, etc.

The pictures we are getting now sure do look like a tsunami.

Just sayin.

I am really sorry everyone, I updated the Galveston missing list but I am not able to update the Boliver missing list at this time. I started but it will take a long time and it's already 4 a.m.

I will try to get a lady from the area who has been doing lists to help me. I will post tomorrow if possible.

Sorry again. Some of the names have been located and more missing need to be added.

THE_VENERABLE:
I have a friend who works for a gas company here in TX. I was told that the company sent teams down to Galveston on the 13th. The teams are STILL there. I've received a few pictures that are not posted in the MSM.

This person informed me that there's no surprise that the body count doesn't match the numbers missing. One of the crew sent down there to shut down the gas mains on the island (not the big one that was shut down before the storm) smelled something quite foul; the tech knew there were cadaver teams in the area, and the tech contacted them. The tech witnessed the cadaver team pulling a body out of debris next to a house.

This was NOT in the worst hit areas of the Bolivar Peninsula, nor in Crystal Beach, etc. This was not in any place you and I might expect. This body retrieval was done in an area where the homes were relatively undamaged, but where tidal debris had been deposited. The buildings in the area had been flooded, but not scraped off the face of the earth.

I'm betting this is nothing unusual, especially since so much of the Bolivar Peninsula's debris got swept down towards Galveston proper and southwesterward.

I've got a picture of a dead cow wedged between a chain link fence and a light pole...taken in an area that had surge but little structural damage. Really strange.

I'm hoping people aren't forgetting. My friend worries that we will.

Thanks RHSC and AQ...I won't forget either. I am going to try to post the updated missing list later on tonight.

It's still very important that we contact the media and inform all of those that we know about the cover-up because it's still ongoing.

Let's play devil's advocate and say there were no high death tolls after the storm because they were searching for live people. Ok...they stopped that a week ago. And there has not been any updated death toll of any significance in that time. No government agency has posted a single comprehensive list of missing people. They have done absolutely NOTHING.

I really thank you guys for your help and I'm sure that if we all continue our efforts they will pay off and more attention will be brought to the situation. Even beyond the dead and the missing, what about the communities who could use donations and volunteer teams to help them rebuild a-la post-Katrina?

My heart breaks for them but I will also not give up on my efforts.

Re: Hurricane Ike Coverup: Call to ActionQuote

Hi there October, & Redhead. I appreciate hearing about your friend who saw the aftermath of Katrina.
When I was 6, I saw that area, the Bolivar Peninsula from one end to the other after Audrey. It was bad, some homes gone, a good amount of debris.
When I was 10, we went down there the day after Carla cleared the area. It was really bad. Someone in a uniform said to watch for bodies floating in, and let him know if we saw anything. Some of the older homes were still there, but many smaller shell type were gone.
But this, this is beyond anything I could ever have imagined. It's beyond words.
So many new homes were built there in recent years. Maybe a thousand people lived there, and these people knew storms.
But recently, more than 12,000 people were on the peninsula. I just hope that most of the missing got out, evac'd somewhere out of the area, and just haven't checked in yet. The area should not have been built up that way. Far too vulnerable to hurricanes & surge.

If all of you would send the missing list into your local newspaper and tv stations I would really appreciate it that might get the media to open its eyes.

Tried to get the local paper here to post the information... here is what they said...

"what is your source?

it that state or other credible source has a list of the missing I am sure it is being published by the local media."

The sources are:
ABC 13 Person Locator
KHOU Forums

Both are local people posting an "ad" if you will that their family member is missing. I have thoroughly checked the ABC 13 source and listed all names from it as well as deleted those that are now accounted for.

A couple of nice ladies on the KHOU forum have been coming up with a list of their own on Bolivar. They are from the area and aren't just relying on board posts but are in touch with survivors and locals. I have been using their lists as well to add names and cross check and delete other people that are accounted for.

I don't think their list is complete, however.

thanks for working on this folks. The lack of media coverage stinks to heaven.
Hope more people wake up. Keep up the good work, you all!

Former Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton appointed James Baker III as national chairman for their new initiative, the Bush-Clinton Coastal Recovery Fund.

The fund will work with the hardest-hit cities, towns and municipalities along the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast to pinpoint the best use of the funds, such as infrastructure projects.

Bush and former Secretary of State Baker are expected to tour the area in the coming weeks, and the first distributions will be made at the end of the year.

Baker, who is a partner in the Houston law firm Baker Botts LLP, will oversee a 40-person committee of business and civic leaders that will help raise funds.

The new nonprofit venture is the third collaboration for the two presidents since 2005.

The Laura Recovery Team is compiling a list of the missing.
They have more than 400 names on the list so far, and are asking for people to call in and list anyone not on the list. They are also asking for those who evac'd but haven't called back or come back, to please get in touch.

Of course ... tptb are interested only in the infrastructure. I guess to them the hundreds or thousands missing are of no concern.

Oh my god..

Once again. My family lives there. NO FUCKING COVER UP.

Bolivar and high beach were destroyed because of geography. do some research on the climate and water level, as well as the state of the levies before hand.

Wrong place wrong time.

Official death count = ACCURATE

Unofficial death count = retarded.
