Probably Hurricane related.

If gas there is real expensive because of Gustav/Ike, then it costs the gas station owner more money when you use a credit card. They're charged a fee by Visa or Mastercard for every transaction.

You bet your ass it does, anywhere from 1.8 to 4% of the purchase depending on the card.
