Media BLACKOUT: The BIGGEST political rally ever, in the history of the state of ALASKA: "Alaska Women Reject Palin" Rally is HUGE

[link to mudflats.wordpress.com]

I attended the Welcome Home rally for Sarah Palin this morning. Hooo. It was an experience. About a thousand (maybe) hard-core Palin supporters showed up to hear her speak at the new Dena’ina Convention Center in downtown Anchorage.

After shaking it off with a good double shot of espresso, and a brisk walk back to my car, it was time to head to the Alaska Women Reject Palin rally. It was to be held outside on the lawn in front of the Loussac Library in midtown Anchorage. Home made signs were encouraged, and the idea was to make a statement that Sarah Palin does not speak for all Alaska women, or men. I had no idea what to expect.

The rally was organized by a small group of women, talking over coffee. It made me wonder what other things have started with small groups of women talking over coffee. It’s probably an impressive list. These women hatched the plan, printed up flyers, posted them around town, and sent notices to local media outlets. One of those media outlets was KBYR radio, home of Eddie Burke, a long-time uber-conservative Anchorage talk show host. Turns out that Eddie Burke not only announced the rally, but called the people who planned to attend the rally “a bunch of socialist baby-killing maggots”, and read the home phone numbers of the organizers aloud over the air, urging listeners to call and tell them what they thought. The women, of course, received many nasty, harassing and threatening messages.

So, as I jettisoned myself from the jaws of the ‘Drill Baby Drill’ crowd and toward the mystery rally at the library, I felt a bit apprehensive. I’d been disappointed before by the turnout at other rallies. Basically, in Anchorage, if you can get 25 people to show up at an event, it’s a success. So, I thought to myself, if we can actually get 100 people there that aren’t sent by Eddie Burke, we’ll be doing good. A real statement will have been made. I confess, I still had a mental image of 15 demonstrators surrounded by hundreds of menacing “socialist baby-killing maggot” haters.

It’s a good thing I wasn’t tailgating when I saw the crowd in front of the library or I would have ended up in somebody’s trunk. When I got there, about 20 minutes early, the line of sign wavers stretched the full length of the library grounds, along the edge of the road, 6 or 7 people deep! I could hardly find a place to park. I nabbed one of the last spots in the library lot, and as I got out of the car and started walking, people seemed to join in from every direction, carrying signs.

Never, have I seen anything like it in my 17 and a half years living in Anchorage. The organizers had someone walk the rally with a counter, and they clicked off well over 1400 people (not including the 90 counter-demonstrators). This was the biggest political rally ever, in the history of the state. I was absolutely stunned. The second most amazing thing is how many people honked and gave the thumbs up as they drove by. And even those that didn’t honk looked wide-eyed and awe-struck at the huge crowd that was growing by the minute. This just doesn’t happen here.

Then, the infamous Eddie Burke showed up. He tried to talk to the media, and was instantly surrounded by a group of 20 people who started shouting O-BA-MA so loud he couldn’t be heard. Then passing cars started honking in a rhythmic pattern of 3, like the Obama chant, while the crowd cheered, hooted and waved their signs high.

So, if you’ve been doing the math… Yes. The Alaska Women Reject Palin rally was significantly bigger than Palin’s rally that got all the national media coverage! So take heart, sit back, and enjoy the photo gallery. Feel free to spread the pictures around (links are appreciated) to anyone who needs to know that Sarah Palin most definitely does not speak for all Alaskans. The citizens of Alaska, who know her best, have things to say.

Mainstream Media Ignores Anti-Palin Rally in Alaska

[link to www.examiner.com]

Charges of "liberal" media bias against Sarah Palin were amply disproven over the weekend. While mainstream media outlets extensively covered her triumphal return to Alaska for a fond farewell to her soldier son before his deployment to Iraq, these same media outlets mostly ignored an even larger rally against Palin along the streets of Anchorage. Assocated Press ran a short piece on their wire, but that was about it.

Organized by Angie Doroff, 46, and a small group of other woman who hatched the idea over cups of coffee, the "Alaska Women Reject Palin" rally drew about 1400-1500 protesters to surround the grounds of the Anchorage public library.

Hmmm.... for some reason it seems like these sources of how big the rally was aren't exactly "neutral" or even journalists..... Maybe that's why nobody cares about a rally that even the organizers say was only attended by 1400 people, which means it was probably more like 140.

Anyway, Sarah Palin's approval rating in Alaska is like 85% or something, so that means... let's see .15*thepopulationofalsaska = .15*50,000 [or so] = 7500 people in Alaska don't like Palin, so it is not surprising they could get together a small protest.

You people are fucking idiots. You are missing the point. The point is not the number. It's the number compared to the "support" rally and the media blackout. The point is your lying media who you will probably reference in your next thread supporting Palin.

I don't know, the approval rating seems pretty high, every caller or guest on radio that I have heard from Alaska always gets asked about Sarah Palin and I have yet to hear one that was not enthusiastically supportive of her, INCLUDING:

Last night there was a guest on a national late night radio show and his father was a democratic Alaskan congressman, and he has family all players in the democratic party in Alaska, and he talked about how he was hoping Palin would not get elected because "Alaska still needs her, she is the one we need".

Seems like there are a few bitter pro-choice feminazis in Alaska and everyone else loves Governor Palin. She's the best from what I've seen, I wish she was governor of my state!

No it wasn't the largest anything. Except maybe a super-sized snow job.

Even the democrat mouthpiece called the Anchorage Daily News reported that the Pro-Palin Rally was larger.

"Convention hall managers figured the Palin rally drew about 1,500 people."

[link to www.adn.com]

Sarah Palin's approval rating in this state was well over 80 percent favorable. That's astounding.

Given the anger level of Alaskans over the attacks against Palin, her favorable rating is probably much higher than it was prior to her selection as VP.

The Obama campaign has over 30 attorneys and other campaign operatives in the State doing everything they can to boost the Man-Child Obama.

They have done their "community organizing" with the pro-abortion groups. These folks don't like to use the term 'abortion' but prefer the weasel term 'reproductive health.'

The anti-Palin rally was a pro-abortion rally.

Sounds like you are looking to a limited number of sources, and that alone. It's like saying, "I don't know, I've never been to Asia, I've not seen Asia, I doubt it exists."

[link to www.rasmussenreports.com]

In the new survey, 68% of Alaska voters rate Palin’s job performance as governor as good or excellent, including 51% who say she is doing an excellent job. Ironically, she has been a harsh critic of Stevens and others in the Republican “good ol’ boy” network that has dominated politics in her state for years.

How can someone be "pro abortion"? Only an evil person can be "pro abortion". It's that simple. Unless you are evil you must know that abortion is a horrible thing, a necessary evil at best, something akin to cancer. It is like saying you are "pro cancer". You might thing people should be allowed to give themselvs cancer, but how anyone can be enthusiastic and excited about such a thin just boggles the mind. These are the types of people that the nazis were made of, hence "feminazis".

Of course they hate Palin, she is like the Wonder Woman to their Wicked Witch of The West.

Actually, you guys have hit the nail on the head regarding WHY Palin was picked...

Is sure isn't her foreign policy experience...

:palinexp:

It's her staunch, unreasonable views on abortion. I am not an abortion advocate, however, if someone is incestually raped by their uncle or whoever and gets pregnant, they should have the right not to have to bear that child.

Of course, Palin doesn't agree, and McCain needed that to woo unthinking, unreasonable antiabortionists.

Because McCain DID say that you should be able to abort the rape victim's incestuous spawn.

For Palin, the US is a foreign nation, as proven by

1) Alaskan separatist connections and
2) Confusion as to what US foreign policy is (because she isn't a part of the US, according to her way of thinking).

I see you found the Palin picture where she posed with the Obama operatives in Alaska.

OP, you presented this thread as something it's not.

It was a pro-abortion rally against Palin organized by the Obamabots.

It wasn't the largest rally in the state and was smaller than the pro-Palin rally that took place earlier.
